I took out a GTR for 3 hrs today.....have a friend that has the new 11 car and i had it from 2pm.....what a car!! the fastest thing ill ever drive.......

The power is unbelievable and at 70k its def become my choice if i had the money.....unless the GTS becomes 50k.....

The quality is there but little dire dash for me....pai twork is e cellent and it turned heads....at 1st i never liked the exhaust sound but he took it and i watched him drive off and the sound was excellent....was overtaking 2 or 3 cars at a time on narrow roads and still had ample time to get in lane.....
Hit 140mph on....anyway a private road and it never felt we were doing that....more like 80.....

It was blue with white leather, i love it now....

So with £50k burning a hole in my pocket I guess I shouldn't drive one.

It is a car that has caught my eye but have sort of dismissed it as power is not everything, soul is more important.

Also, relatively easy to tune up to telephone number outputs. Witnessed one with 900 bhp being used as it should. However, he has since sold it and bought a 430 spider. Says it all really.

It probably would Dem, but it wouldn't have the soul of a (pre-Audi) Lambo.

I may get a GT-R next year but keep the GS. I then have the best of both worlds. The cost will be little different to a new Maserati.

I went in a Gallardo Spyder Dem and it certainly felt as though it had it's own charactor. Having been in a few Ferrari's i would say the Lambo felt more fun and a lot less serious.

The 6.2 Murcielago, yes, first Lambo i ever went in, bonkers fast and the guy said to me it feels as raw to drive as a Diablo. I dont think for one minute that just because Lambo have Audi on board the cars have been ”toned” down, total opposite IMO, still mental cars.

On the soul front, I should point out that I have a pal who has driven Japanese cars all his life and knows his Fairlady's from his R34's. Let's not be too biased in our views about Japanese cars and their heritage. At least the Japanese are still offering value for money. I chose a Maser again over a *** car, but in terms of VFM the latest breed of Masers are a rip-off in comparison to the GT-R. (When will we get the e-diff, dual clutch, 'proper' performance, etc.) Don't mean to ruffle feathers, but the coupe and GS seemed reasonable VFM in their day but how is a top-end Maser a better package than a Porsche Turbo or GT-R or AMG.

A GS probably is not better than a top package from Porsche or AMG but frankly i could not care less, the GS is one of those few cars that i really do want to own.

Adam, a few years ago the GS received very favourable reviews from the automotive press, who considered it a worthy alternative to the Carrera S. Strong praise, given that the Maserati r&d budget is probably not close even to Porsche's marketing budget. The latest top end AMG and Nissan technology can now be had for 70k, but you need a lot more in the bank to buy a new Maser. I wouldn't mind so much if they had raised the bar; but I can't see what the extra cash is paying for. Fezzas are still expensive but every year or so you get a step change in technological advancement. What is the great difference between a 2005 coupe, which you can get for 20k, and an entry level 2011 GranTurismo, which will cost you 85-90k?

Thats what mean pat.....yes the GTR lacks certain feel but people into these cars will tell you it has got soul....same as 911 drivers....
What price must us masersti owners pay for a car that can compete with them? 130k? And still not be as fast as a ferrari??

GTR does everything you could want but lacks soul to us maserati owners, but at 70k brand new its a car you cant walk away from if you were in the market unless you just like expensive badges.....

Not sure about that Benny...I've been in a Murcielago and it had soul by the bucket load....

Sounds like you had fun Dem....A truly epic car....
