I have Larini rear boxes,

Rob said that the original hp figures were 394 when warmed up before the upgrade and I saw and have the dyno picture at 443.8 I was expecting 438hp so very happy.

I think we all knew the engine had it and but a 12.5 percent gain is impressive nonetheless. Was this at the new red line? 8 / 8.5K?

If you're running standard cats there are some more horses in there raring to get out! ;)

The red line was increased by 400rpm so 7900rpm,
I have standard Cats and I'm very happy with the sound of just the rear Larini Boxes.

I'm always loath to spend any more money than i have to.

Only one word..........................stupendous.....great result......did he remember the proposed forum group buy as Loz mentioned?

No, he didn't respond when i mentioned it to him,
But told him i would be reporting to the forum and at the Bristol Autoitalia how i found the changes.

Which have put a big smile on my face and did remind me of the surge i felt in the F355.

Very much what i think my Spyder should have been when it left the factory.

Hi Loz,

I'm hoping to make the Ace in March.

Yes, I should really know how it behaves across all types of driving by then.

I'm sort of with you there Nick. My cat collapsed a couple of years ago and so I stumped up for the Larini cats, which made a real different and the sound was lovely - subtle but lovely. Just recently I completed the change adding the H-pipe and back boxes. Don't get me wrong, the sound is amazing (when you're in the mood) and the pull is appreciably stronger / free'er (if that makes sense?), but lord it's loud! I think you can get away with it on a GS, but a 4200?... Hmmm. I'm thinking of putting the muffled centre section back on to see what that sounds like, especially as I'll shortly be installing the FD DBW module.

Hey Nick, Great to hear the DMS work has had such good results. Did they make any chnages to the gearbox settings?

Hi Andy,

They don't change the CC ECU settings but the throttle is definitely more responsive, I'm having to control my left foot or I'm wheel spinning out of junctions.
Just about to post a report about it and a group buy possibility.

Hi All,
I have been out and about playing in my Spyder and getting used to the extra power.
It's really very noticeable and i'm having to hold back as i'm wheel spinning out of junctions without meaning to. It's like I'm having to learn how to drive the car all over again and needing to be extra careful with the right foot.
But it's great fun having all that extra power, just brilliant.
Anyway I had a mail from Rob at DMS this morning asking how i was liking the changes and saying how pleased he had been with the amount of extra horse power that was produced.
He mentioned the group buy that i had spoken to him about and said that DMS would be very happy to give a group buy discount. There are at present no figures being mentioned and i assume that the amount of discount would depend entirely on the number of forum members that participated.
I thought that I would start a new thread to see what interest there may be as a number of members have already shown some interest.
http://www.sportsmaserati.co.uk/asset.php?fid=4666&uid=23&d=1298243271

I will imaginatively call the new thread “ DMS ECU Upgrade Group Buy†and place it in the “Maserati Forum Chat†section.

Hello. Im also impressed about the results and tell you the truth that HP increase is close to an increase in a turbo charged car i had in the past. It is difficult to gain such an improvement without a turbo charger. A Maserati 4200 has for sure a downgraded engine and that engine has a lot more to give with the appropriate tuning. My Maserati dealer here in Greece told that my car and every 4200 can reach without turbo or compressor kits around 500 HP. If it is not late for the group buy you mentioned above i say im ready to purchase the ECU chip from DMS with a decreased price.

Hi KyriakosSpyder, welcome with your first post!

I believe you have to travel to them to hook up their computerised system for DMS to up-date your ECU system, I don't know if they have a representative in Greece but Loz will ask on your behalf.......

Keep checking the relevant thread...will post it up for you!

K, I'm not sure you would get 500bhp out of a 4200 without serious engine work. The Holy Grail used to be 100bhp/litre, 500bhp is around 120 bhp/litre. Not easy to achieve. 440-450 bhp (460-465bhp with sports cats and Larinis) is a realistic target I would suggest.

Of course with all the appropriate engine work along with an exhaust, filter and a remap. Sorry maybe i didn't explain it well. We also have the advantage of the high engine capacity. A Ferrari 360 or 430 can not gain so much HP power when tuned like a Maserati 4200. These Ferrari are already pushed near their limits. I'm not an expert so i don't know. I'm only sharing information with you.
