Direction indicator 'click' too quiet

Hello folks,
I have a new Granturismo 4.7 Sport MC-Shift which is a delight to drive.

However, the indicator repeater click is way too quiet to be of any use. I know it will sound a warning if the indicator isn't turned off within a mile, but I can't see a way in the manual on how to make it louder.

Anybody got a tip or trick for this or will it have to be an aftermarket option?

Same issue in the 4200’s also. Can be driving a few miles before you realise you have the indicator on.

Its the same for me as well (Granturismo) especially in Sport with the window open and I am deaf in one ear !! I am in the habit now of checking every time, but still get caught out.

I think it was BennyD that put a red light on top of the column, pretty simple to wire up.

Preferable to fix the problem maybe? How badly worn are the cancelling tabs - have seen a couple of repairs. One involved using some wire to reinforce the tabs - bit of a bodge perhaps. The other, on a FIAT forum, involved gluing acrylic to the existing tabs and shaping to fit. Not had to do either thankfully but the acrylic option appeared to be effective.

If it is controlled by a traditional relay you could remove the outer shell and drill some holes in it before replacing.

I have the same problem. Particularly annoying when you've been posing around in Sport mode with the window down, and you suddenly realise everyone's been laughing at you 'cos you've left the indicator on! I think the beeper is mounted on the circuit board behind the speedo so not an easy fix , but I'm happy to be wrong.

I have got into the habit of (almost) always manually cancelling any use of the indicators (on my QP). Once you get used to it, it becomes (mostly) automatic / unconscious / no trouble.

Indeed. Most bikes (when I was riding) didn't have self cancelling indicators.....

I really noticed this on my Gransport - even aside from the lack of ticking noise, although it worked ok it didnt seem to cancel automatically as easily as you'd expect, and a couple of times I caught myself still indicating some way up the road which is potentially quite unsafe (e.g. a car waiting to pull out of a side road ahead assumes you're slowing to turn right, so pulls out).

The movement of the indicator stalk also is quite long/not very positive....not sure if it's a parts bin item but it felt dated.

Indeed, talk about looking for a problem. I like the fact that they are quiet rather than the annoyingly loud ones on many modern cars.

Well, it IS a problem, that came looking for me! And it bugged me to be driving along dumbly and dangerously indicating away. But I fixed it in the best way I knew how, since I know nothing about lights and relays.

Looking in the dash from time to time works as well.

I have a Shelby GT500 Mustang 5.4L V8 as well and that has a very audible sound supplement to the dash indicators. Anyway, why worry that it's loud, it's only on for a maximum of a few seconds. As an ex-helicopter pilot, I look at gauges frequently, but after a left turn near my house, which is not 90° and often doesn't auto-cancel indicators, there are several roads entering from the left so it needs to be cancelled immediately or within a few seconds. An occasional brief noise or bending a new car ....

Mine are not very worn, the car only had 81 miles on the clock when I got it
