Data Breach

I received this and I believe it is genuine. There is a link on the Maserati website that explains more detail:

If you don’t feel comfortable clicking on the link then it’s easy enough to find yourself.

Personally I am not overly concerned. It will probably increase the amount of phishing emails I get but like everyone I’m already having to deal with plenty. My opinion would change if more details come to light.

Yes, it’s apparently real, definitely not phishing.

on checking, they hold my DOB, address, email address and vehicle details

I never feel comfortable clicking on any links - pretty much no matter who - so always go in independently. Not that I've received this email.

Very wise. If more people thought like you, there would be a lot less fraud on the Internet.

Credit to Maserati for only waiting 6 weeks to tell us about this. Many of the biggest breaches, involving millions of people and some financial information, have taken literally years for the companies to own up to.

I got it. They got my name, address and email ... nothing that isn't already on the dark web, from the other 20 data breaches that have happened in the past 2 years.
It's a joke .... you're info is out there. As long as it's not credit card and bank info ... typically what they will do is use the info for phishing scams ... send what looks like a legit
email (your 2023 MC20 is due for a service ... book here now) ... and get you somehow to share your bank/credit card details.

Yes it’s legit. And coincidentally my Maserati got stolen 12 days after the breach happened. They spent a good 20mn in the middle of the night, used specialised gear (saw on security camera: large device waved in front of my door, probably some kind of relay attack / OBD key reprogramming / cloning). So the thieves (probably at least 2 but only caught 1 on cam - hooded of course) were highly prepared and knew I had a Maserati on my property / driveway. I told the police I suspected it was a targeted hit as I live on a cul-de-sac and there was no way they could have found out about my car by accident. Since I received the email I replied to Maserati customer service suspecting the data breach may have helped the thieves target my car, especially if it contained my address. I’m waiting to hear back…

Yes, that was a relay attack from your keyless entry but it's way *WAY* more likely that they drive past and saw you rather than bought your details on the dark web.
