Update - I got another Golf, 1.6 FSI,
58 Plate, 115K up, £2k, currently getting 45mpg on my 60 mile return commute. Has a good MOT history, and drives really well.
Basically the wife drove past, went in, test drove it, paid for it, picked it up and put it on drive for me. Think she was fed up of me using her A1.

I picked up a Saab 93 convertible TDi auto, 2008. Basically a Vauxhall.

Getting 47mpg on my 100 mile round trip on the M5/M4 and Charlie and I have enjoyed the sunshine with the roof down (although that is now at an end, the sun that is).

Expect it will be dead this time next year with another 25k on the clock, but cost £3k so quite happy.
