He does it without taking the tryes off? How do they hold up over time? Shirley, you'd have to keep them the same colour?

I had one wheel done by a paintshop and it looks OK, but not a patch on proper strip down, tyre off job that somewhere like Lepsons would do.

Perfect, better than the thin coating that it comes out the factory too. I would always do the pair on one side, otherwise it will always show.

They just whip the valves out; it equls the pressure, they are not baking to powder coat temps they run up to about 80 c a tyre can hit that in direct sunlight easily...

ok thats feasable, low bake never occurred to me. but what are they spraying on if it is'nt powder.

Modern multi-pack paints confuse the heck out of me, could be two, three or even four pack these days but it will be a wet spray they let the air out of the tyres and pass clingfilm/shrinkwrap into the bead to wrap the tyre so no overspray issues. Better than masking tape that goes all sticky in the oven!

D@mn it, only had it back an hour and have people coming to view and only went and nicked the front drivers alloy, not bad but that shinny alloy showing through dark wheels.

Does anyone know the paint code for the GTS grey wheels?

That'll be sods law! Shouldn't detract from the sale if you explain it'll be sorted.

your car looks great. Good luck with the viewing and hopefully a sale!

Cheers Wattie

You guys should (yet again!) count you cost-blessings for things like this. My baby is currently in having all 4 wheels refurbished and it's taken a week and cost over $1200!!!!! Seemingly nothing different to what Conaero has had done - strip, painted and baked - yet the price differential is staggering as always. Still, I get her back tomorrow morning and I can't wait!!!

I know!! Story of our lives over here as has often been discussed.....but I still wouldn't come back to the UK for all the tea in China as I love it so much here !! As an aside, even the mobile guys who don't sandblast and don't bake charge $160per wheel!! Ah well, goes some way to explaining why such exotic cars are so rare over here I guess.

Funny that prices can vary so much around the world. Sorry, not sure where you are - Australia, US or Canada?

Wow Gary, that seems expensive. The guy down here in Melbourne that does our wheels (and dealer/racing wheels etc) charges 160 per wheel for the full deal. Too late now but it's worth asking your local Benz/BMWdealer who they use to do their wheels in case you need to do another wheel at some stage.
Cheers

Yeah, but look at how much cars cost over there in the first pace. And don't get me started on fuel prices. Mind you, your traffic cops have even less sense of humor that ours do...
