Was going to James but then Covid struck again so couldn't get the car (legally) over to Warrington to get it fitted (as much as I tried to convince myself it was essential) and now the car is SORN for the winter!! How long has it been since I bought it from you?? :(

I did the splitter on my 4200 a while back- its quite a faff but easy enough to do.
You'll need to do repairs to the panels after, as it leaves holes behind. Youre going to find the front bumper support has rotted away and in need of replacing. And the fixings can prove challenging !
The undertay will likely not transfer like for like, albeit they are the same part numbers...
I replaced the undertray for new, and the car resprayed. Looks mint.
I personally think the surf boards look like a Halfords after thought ( which they are ) resulting in a kind of "Liberty Walk" chav naffness I associate with pimps and tweekers.... Each to their own, I s'pose ! ;)

I think the fact that I had a GS before this and because they are so similar, not having the GS bits is kind of a so far yet so close situation- I would have bought a GS in the ideal world but this coupe was just too cheap to not buy and even with the added costs of the GS bits would still be cheaper than any coupe that you have come across !

I won’t be making any of the changes myself so won’t make a difference how complicated / straight forward it is but I know I’ll never be happy knowing how much nicer the GS splitter looks.

The other thought I had was having a custom carbon splitter fabricated that looks like the MC Victory but I somehow can’t get along with the random carbon bit...

What- like the 'random" carbon boot lip spoiler..?
It'd cost a fortune is actual CF...

I dont doubt the surf boards work to improve aero. Its just the looks...:0036:
Maybe Id be okay with losing traction and landing in a ditch, as long as I still look cool doing it...!! :alan:

To me the surfboards make the design of the GS. Gives it a much meaner and better stance than the original 4200s with no skirts and overly high ride height.

I preferred the GS interior as well

C

I do as well but I can live with the coupe interior - it has its charm especially when it looks new and hasn’t got any of the sticky plastic mess.

I can’t live with the exterior though- the GS is the perfect iteration of the 4200 and is how it should have always looked.

I cant get on with anything that designer penned pretty much..
I dont like McClarens either. Trying too hard...Or they just went with function over form.

Giugiaro could draw a turd floating in a cesspit, and Id think it was fecking brilliant...:D:bart_simpson-226:

Slight update - I had to unfortunately put this project on hold until things settle down again due to the lockdown that literally started a week after I decided to go ahead with the transformation.

I’m going to try to turn my horizontal slat grill to the mesh one.

Found this mesh quattroporte grill for less than £20 so thought that it would be worth a go. I’ll be painting it black and will paint the 2 red stripe on my emblem.

Only issue is that my bezel is plastic where as the Quattro one is metal so just need to figure out how I’ll stick the mesh on. Any ideas?

So- these grills go together in several pieces...
The mesh is mounted to an inner carrier cum chassis., that clicls inside the 'metalised' rim surround.
Id guess you might try a modern adhesive of some kind. Bear in mind, Bentley, Lamborghini, you name it; many use extemely strong and complex polymer chemistry/glues to reinforce tub-chassis manufacture. You need to think that you are gluing a metal to plastic...plastics arent solvent stable. Findin gthe right adhesive is key. Ask an expert !
Ive seen motorcycle panels stitch these mesh panels with a sort of panel clip. These need a pin or stud around which to fix...but you could use a larger headed aluminium rivet possibly...It'll not be seen once the chassis is mounted t the surround...? This is what I used when I fitted the GS lwer splitter to my facelift bumper...Works to spread the load without pulling on and mauling the plastic.
There are even plastic rivets available...

Of course - the best thing to use is your noodle...! lol :as002:

If you're cutting to size, there is nothing especially 'unique' about the mesh Maserati use frankly...
There are plenty of different grades available online.( Even B&Q probably have something pedantingly close..! )
Where there's a will !
