Hey Just wondering if any one has converted a auto GT3200 to a manual. Is it as simple as changing the box, linkages and pedal box or is there ecu implications?

Just think a 6 speed would be more fun!!!!!

I did it on a 1969 Opel GT.....never again, its a nightmare.

Pedal box was the biggest issue and there was no complex wiring to take into account neither.

Manaul more desirable imo and more driveable and will hold their value better in future imo. It's the Getrag box from the M5 which really surprised me.

The auto on our AC is excellent, reacts well to sport mode and you don't have a clutch to replace....simples..!!

Driving the auto on the open road is ok once you get the hang of the incredible wide range of RPM in each gear. I reckon the rev limiter hits around 60 in 1st, 90 in 2nd and 120 in 3rd. Its a lock up converter so you can drive it like a manual if you want, i really wanted a manual too but the auto has grown on me and having driven it for 4.5 years I wouldn't swap it now. But then i am getting old and lazy probably!!!!

I don't know what you have driven Contigo, but you are a bit off the mark. The CC box is excellent in my opinion, once you get used to it and know how to use it..!!

I drove a cc spyder from london to poole and loved it, found it refined and smooth

Reviewers slated my smart roadster when it came out for its gearbox but i use it everyday and find it works overall well....yes not as smooth as other cars but thats the point, its not like other cars!

Reviewers miss the point.....

Rob was a brave man letting you do that Dem. I love F1 gearboxes and for me its the only way in sport mode. I'm lucky though being in the motor trade as I drive such a variety of motors. Every time I see Clarkson fooling about driving one badly makes me sick. Watched on YouTube him in a early 360 against a DB7 Vantage just a joke anyway only my point of view.

Please tell us about your own personal experience to support this comment.....

From driving one after coming from an SMGII CSL box. Honestly neck snapping and very jerky. Maybe the one I drove was not right but it certainly wasn't good.

Could be, the M5 is the same it can take a good few weeks to get used to lifting off the loud pedal before changing and then reapplying throttle.

Probably near the end of clutch life...mine was changed a few months ago and it went from waggly neck to much more smooth.. Also depends on the mode and how it's driven, non-sport mode when accelerating can feel wooly and have your head waving around a bit, but I only really use that for pootling or motorways. Sport mode with your foot down, it's quick and certain. I've never tried other paddle shift gearboxes, but I like the character this one has, it's effective without being clinical. IMHO.
