Considering a 4200GT

Hi Guys,

New to the forum, but considering a move from TVR ! to the dark side? !!

I missed the V8 rumble when I went to the speed six Tamora, and need 4 seats, so looking around the 4200 seems to fit the bill.

I haven't started looking in earnest yet, but how does the 4200 work with tall people? I'm 6ft 5 so seating position is always interesting!!

Also, what should i be looking for when talking a look at the 4200?

Are there any meets around the SW, as looking on Pistonheads classified, most of the cars seem to be London or Leicester way.

I'm in Bath, so any more local options would be interesting !!

Cheers
Allan

Welcome. I went from a Cerbera, to a Tuscan, then to the 3200. The 4200 people will no doubt be along soon to point you in the right direction.

Hi Allan.

Good choice...I have had two 4200 and now on a GS. The 4200 is a great car and to be honest once set up well is just as good as a GS but for almost 1/2 the price...and a lot more comfortable.

Re SW Meets. Bristol Breakfast Club 8th June from 08:30 in Queens square...not Maserati but lots of lovely metal and a few of us will pitch up there.

Morning Alan.

I don't think you will have any height issues in the front, rear is probably limited to 6 footers though.

There are 3 different 4200 models and the majority will agree they get better the later model you go.
2002-2003 Classico
2004-2006 Facelift
2006-2007 GranSport

You can get all in 4 seat coupe or 2 seater Spyder.

All are CambioCorsa F1 paddle shift automated clutch systems with the exception of some early manuals

GranSpot is arguably the best car and this is reflected in the high resale price.

GranSport comes in 2 trim levels, the most desirable being the LE spec that are full leather, xenons, auditorium HiFi, leather headliner and a few other bits.

Get the car inspected and clutches cost £2k so make sure it's been recently done.

Reliability wise they have proven to be bullet proof for WELL MAINTAINED examples.

Pete, what modifications did you make to your 4200? Cheers

Hi Allan I have 4200cc and being around the 6ft 5 and pushing the 23 stone mark I don't really have any problems with it, being with no clutch pedal there is enough room for you to place your foot. had a few different goes at the seating position and I did a trip from Lincoln to London with no problems at all.

Hi Allan. I'm 6'4" with short body, long legs. I don't even have the front seat back all the way. Wouldn't want to do a long journey in the back, but can get in and out quite easily
