Thanks, in the meantime, thought this might be worth a try:

Hi guys, I put a Ragazzon straight through rear section on my 3.2 Spider and was a bit disappointed really, so ordered the unsilenced middle section and OMG.

It is really loud, don't get me wrong, its a great sound but a little too raw for me.

So, I don't want to buy yet another bit of exhaust, so wondered if anyone fancies doing a swap?

What I would like is the silenced version of what I have, of I suppose a less silenced than stock middle section.

Anyway, PM me if your interested, here is what I have:

and here is what I am after:

And this is the mid section I have:

Must admit gone off buying packaged exhausts custom ones are normally better made and can be made to meet your requirements. There is a bloke down the road who will normally fit me in between stuff he makes for the race teams.

Car going to PowerFlow in Brighton (its close Nik) to cut in a cylindrical PowerFlow silencer so a custom fit.

Mixed reveiws on them, seams the quality and fit is different where you go. i.e the Bristol one is supposed to be really good, the Gloucester one not very good. Make sure it's a good one ;)

Going in for a single silencer on Tuesday. It will be in the rear section that unbolts so if I feel like noise, two bolts and it's off. Won't even need to jack the car up.

What I am hoping for is less base and blowy sound at idle up to 2.5k rpm then the same sound above that, we will see.

That's what I have on the GTV makes it a bit deeper, not so raspy, still quite loud :) it's decatted though.

Tis done, and yes, much better. Still a lot of base under 2.5rpm but more of a tuned note to it, so I am rather please for the £100 +VAT I paid for it.

Plus, if I want it back to the stupid loud, I can simply uncouple the last foot of the tailpipe with the silencer in it so the best of both worlds.

Quick question did you drop the engine out or lift it out? Most ancillaries disconnected and removed. Almost ready to remove mine and not sure which way is best.

I have a lift so dropped it onto a trolley jack then raised the car up out of the way.

Removing the subframe was one of the hardest jobs and Duncan told me you don't need to.

Basically the easiest way is to pull it out of the front.

Mount on a trolley Jack, remove all the rads, slam panel, lights etc and pull it out the front that way no need to remove the subframe, so just disconnect exhaust, driveshafts, mounts, gearbox linkage and all the wiring and pipe work.

Ha! just re read the thread, saw the "out the bottom" pic. I have the car up on ramps at the moment, and a hoist, so could do the same. Drive shafts to remove next, then should be good to go.

Just take your time. I took about 3 afternoons to remove it and one to put it back in.

I did a bit then walked away and came back another day.
