He became public sector enemy number one after he was asked on Wednesday's One Show what he thought of the strike over pension arrangements. “I'd have them all shot. I would take them outside and execute them in front of their families,†he said. “I mean, how dare they go on strike when they've got these gilt-edged pensions that are going to be guaranteed while the rest of us have to work for a living?â€

I find it funny.....

Matt Baker: And we've got Jeremy Clarkson!

Matt Baker: So Jeremy, schools, hospitals, airports, even driving tests have been affected. Do you the strikes are a good idea?

Jeremy Clarkson: It's been fantastic. Seriously, never had … London today has just been empty. Everybody stayed at home, you could whizz about, your restaurants were empty.

Alex Jones: The traffic actually has been very good today.

Jeremy Clarkson: Very light. Now airports, you know, people streaming through with no problems at all and it's also like being back in the 70s, it makes me feel at home somehow.

Alex Jones: Do you know anybody who …

Matt Baker: [interrupts – inaduiable] – being on strike today?

Jeremy Clarkson: What, in public service? Of course I don't. No, absolutely. We have to balance it though, don't we because this is the BBC.

Alex Jones and Matt Baker: Exactly.

Jeremy Clarkson: Frankly, I'd have them all shot!

[studio laughs]

He was commenting on how stupid it is that the Beeb have to seen to be impartial. If any public servants are offended by that then they're showing themselves up. He isn't attacking them, blatantly taking the **** out of the fact that he has to be seen to speak for both sides. Well done Miles on putting the transcript up, as, if taken out of context, he can be made to look incredibly scathing and bigoted which in this case, he isn't!

The studio audience didn't find it funny........sort of embarrassed laugh by a small section.....realising JC had crossed the line.......

Also, before the show ended the two idiot presenters apologised on behalf of the BBC about another comment he made........


He should have kept them for a late night show or one of his motoring pron type DVDs..........


We live in more PC/prickly times..........one mans joke is another mans insult.

The reality is, he's actually done the strikers a favour by giving them more FREE publicity to get their point across.

Also loving the calls to sack him... Yeah, kill the golden goose! These same people will then moan that their license fee has gone up (due to the BBC not making millions out of his broadcasts that they sell all over the world.)

PC bollox gone mad as usual. I'm sure if he REALLY meant it he'd be making an awful lot more noise about it.

Those of us with a few grey hairs will remember the days when you could have a laugh without looking over your shoulder all the time; apprentices the world over have been sent to stores for long waits and tartan paint, while girls used to revel in wholfwhistles. Tartan paint's now disappeared along with the apprentices, and the gender (better not say sex) that complained about whistles is now seen throwing up in town centres at night.

JC is a Marmite character who certainly has his moments, but he gets castigated for making loopy suggestions while the establishment and country at large made excuses for idiotic rioters who destroyed people's livelihoods, supposedly in the name of 'legitimate' protest, not too long ago.
