I like them after a third...quite bland until then. I find the darker wrappers on these a little acidic

Yes the times have gone when Habanos releases had a minimum of a year age. I guess it’s a simple matter of demand v supply.
I tend to age my boxes for at least a couple of years now before smoking. Havanas have always benefited from ageing, much like quality wine. The ash your Diplomatico displayed with the clear ‘rings’ and white ash, is an obvious sign of aged tobacco.
I’m currently getting through a couple of boxes of 2002 Upmann Sir Winston’s, just absolutely stunning after 20 odd years tucked away.

I am not a smoker but have enjoyed the occasional cigar.
When in Cuba 10 years ago I had a cigar every night, much to the dismay of my wife and surprise of my kids - seeing their non smoking dad enjoying a smoke :D

What I don’t understand is why you have to come on here with your negativity and doomsday prognosis.
There’s a few of us enjoying this thread and sharing some memories. There’s absolutely no need to rip us down like that.
Is it because you didn’t get the action man with the kung fu grip for Xmas and so you have to go and break the other kids toys..?

Ah, I understand; I can only express a point of view that agrees with yours. In that case, smoke away and enjoy every mouthful and, as a gesture of reconciliation, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. X

I’m choosing to ignore the above and continue in the spirit of this particular thread.
An aged Bolivar Petit Corona this afternoon with a lovely dark wrapper leaf.

Just a side note to our comments earlier, you can buy aged cigars from Habanos, here is a box of Partagas Coronas Gordas Añejados that my wife bought for me recently, 5+ years of age - and it shows, they are a phenomenal smoke.
