Hmmm.

I don’t think they will be related. When you say clonk, is it related to the wheel turning or when going round corners? This could be delaminating brake shoes. Service light is because it thinks it needs a service. If it doesn’t then it’s just a reset.

Hi guys,

So the service was last done in the last 12 months, it's definitely not due a service and I know this was reset at the time, so it's odd.

The clonk on the rear, off-side is when going over bumps, it's akin to something I'd expect if I had a broken spring etc. but this has all just emerged on this brief startup/drive after a largely flawless drive last time, with the exception of the transmission light coming on again.

The car wants jacking up and a full inspection on the offending corner to check properly.
Have you checked battery voltage for the other issues ?

Battery has just been replaced, Phil. But I've put a bit of charge into it. I suspect there's something greater at play. Sadly.

Service light is on as it thinks it requires a service. Question, can you set your date and time and it stays correct after an ignition cycle or does it change to 01-01-2097?

The clonk with handbrake issues is either the shoes have come adrift or they locked up and have broken your wishbone. When you have the handbrake looked at, make sure the rear disks are removed and the top of the hubs are inspected for damage.

If it’s not handbrake related then lower shock bushes are the usual suspect.

On a ramp, cradle the bottom of the wheel with your arms and bounce it upwards. It will be immediately evident if it’s failed.

Thanks, Conaero.

Beginning to look like I am heading down a bit of a rabbit hole of issues, which is disappointing as the car is driven infrequently and in a fairly considerate manner.

Yes indeed, the frequency isn't good. I'm always sure to give it an 'Italian tune up' when the roads permit, car does more city driving than it (and I) would like...the joys of London.

Another quick update, and ultimately it's probably somewhat underwhelming/obvious. The clutch is knackered. It's now sufficiently worn that the car is throwing up this error. Definitely feel as though I've been slightly unlucky with the clutch needing done at 26.5k miles, but hey ho.

Owch- well at least you get the joy of driving it again with a bee 100% set up clutch

Would a failed clutch position sensor cause a misread on the clutch wear? Just over 43km on the gearbox ECU.

Or a failed clutch position sensor. What is the mileage stored in the gearbox ECU (TCU) in KM?

Anyone have any feedback on this? I realise it's unlikely they're diagnosing incorrectly, but aware that oversell in order to get the 'big job' is possible. Could the issues be down to the CPS only?

I can't help with the technicals of that, but it sounds plausible that if the CPS was knackered it could easily lead to sytoms of a worn clutch.

However, I note you said most of your driving is city driving in London. So there is also a good chance that your clutch could be worn.

A few years ago, I was looking at a GT-S based in London. It'd had a new clutch 7k miles previous and was already showing 61% worn!

I have seen it that's why it's good practice to change everything when your in there to be fair and it's not over selling.
Clutch wear on a car in city traffic driven in auto mode and the clutch won't last 5 minutes.
In Auckland NZ it really shocked me but a lot of the customers there had more money than sense and thought they were in real life Fast and Furious.
