Guy - you are quite right. My 280 has no power and handles like a truck also. But that‘s just fine on a sunny summers day, wafting through the lanes on the way to cricket with the roof down and a picnic in the boot. It’s technically rubbish but emotionally brilliant at the same time, and with a dash of style.
I see that the SL Shop now have their best R107’s at £90-£100k. The same cars were £50k a year ago, and £25k a couple of years before that. Personally I think it’s crazy, and driven purely by themselves. It’s still easy to buy a perfectly useable SL107 from auction for £10-£15k, which to my mind, is a price far more in keeping with the driving experience.
