When I bought my 456 in 2012 I drove that home 275 miles on a Bank Holiday weekend only stopping for food and fuel.

Did similar a number of years ago with a MK3 Cooper S from belfast, flew out and drove it back to Surrey, overnight ferry to Liverpool was great

Just bought another 456 this week , and did 300 miles home, in mostly heavy rain ! (Hence no Lamborghini bid )

Correct. I went to buy either, having inspected them two weeks before. I genuinely couldn’t decide which to bid for. But the Urraco came on to the block first and I happened to win it. Hence leaving the Merak, which was then bought for a bargain price by Charles at Classic Connections.

He’s a nice chap. I used him to sell my white Merc SL last year.

The previous owner of both these auction cars still has a lovely set of Maseratis, and another Urraco, so really didn’t “need” these two. We chatted at the auction - turns out we were at Uni together, and he was at school with an old flatmate of mine. Small World.

Went through the paperwork today. The previous owner had it 16 years and did 600 miles. But I’m sure it gave great pleasure just in looks alone, whenever he stepped in the barn to admire it. It will for me.

it is a super car to have in your collection, funny how us petrol heads get pleasure from just having something tucked away in the garage and to simply admiring them every now and then, think ive done about 200/300 miles in some of mine in the last 5/6 years and thats just travelling to and from MOT station
