Maybe, maybe as sometimes not, i'm not understanding the logic, by that logic why would anyone put something through an auction at all?Wouldn’t you set a reserve though?

I've noticed that too. Is the high reserve due to the auction house 'selling' an optimistic minimum value or the owner's emotional value/too high an expectation?Many auctions I watch of late result in cars not being sold because they don’t hit reserve and then immediately afterwards they’re offered at a Buy it Now price, which they don’t sell at either! In theory a car should find its market value at auction but I know that I’ve sometimes been disappointed with results when I’ve sold things without reserve; it’s risky!
Glad I've owned an XJC and would certainly like another.I know there is some love on here for these;

I agree...it's different, but (sadly) also puts me in mind of a MX-5
Certainly different
I actually like that very much. A few parts are a bit fussy but nothing that some paint won't sort out. The boomerangs look extremely well integrated, and we know from Benny what a massive pita job that is. Clearly much work has gone into this.There is a lot there that really works and is well resolved overall.
The front looks fabulous, the rear splitter and the paint job to draw the eye down the side both work well other than the rear quarter looks a little fussy by the paint job not lining up with the car's actual bodyparts, the tonneau cover is fabulous but surprised we don't see the roof up (has it been junked or too much faff to remove the cover?), the wheels are another great addition, and whilst I am not a fan of tan seats with red paint, the seat design looks a massively significant improvement on stock if just lacking a little in execution.
I wonder what it will reach.

I remember seeing a program on tv about the chap that commissioned this, totally bespoke, from memory the conversion was around £40kI actually like that very much.
