CAR AUCTIONS

Brightwells have this 2003 Maserati Spyder CambioCorsa - V888 JPH:

A little tired around the edges - leather coming away in picture 45 and some corrosion(?) on the boot lid not very successfully hidden by the gold stripes in picture 60. But, only 25,000 miles and a pretty clean MoT history on the positive side.

Looks like it may have appeared in a previous auction, as the keys are tagged "lot 37" but it's lot 41 in this auction.

This car was auctioned by Richard Edmonds Auctions Ltd on 15th October last year, I went to look at it and to be fair apart from the isolated leather issue was pretty much immaculate. It didn’t have the big gold stripe and the racing number. There was a rattle after about 3 minutes of engine running, I thought it might have been an idle pulley bearing on its way out.

It had a good history and a clutch change, and on the day sold for £19500 plus fees which put it around £22k I was interested and bid but for me it started to look expensive.

The story being it was part of a collection and the owner was having a change.

I have a car vertical report that I can share, not sure if I still have the service history, but that should be available from the current auction house. Pictures from when I looked.

Yup, I agree it isn't easy to find them. Would prefer a ZF Auto like many do on the QPV but the DS isn't a deal breaker as has its upsides.

I don't get why someone wouldn't spend a couple of quid and get the headliner done, the wheels refurbished and any easy paint corrected. Maybe even fix that b pillar trim. I'm sure it would be much easier to sell and make a far better price.

Otherwise it will just sell at trade price as anyone taking it on has a.little but of time and hassle straight off the cuff. So the likely sell price will reflect this I expect.

Seems a little odd the b pillar is so damaged and the seat looks a little worn for a car of 17k miles. The alloys looked very very well kerbed and I expect the tyres will be old or cracked...or kerbed!

I'll be surprised if it makes £15k and suspect it will be more like £12k tops but who knows. Bonham's never seem to drive the best prices on their auctions as we have discussed on here before. Only takes one punter to want to pay more though.
Agreed - I don’t think it’ll make £15k either. Which is why I think it won’t sell, as the reserve will be somewhere near that. I very much doubt the reserve will be as low £12k, for example.

I wonder why it's back up for auction so soon? 22k is a strong price for an early Spyder. See what the new auction house get for it. I doubt anywhere near 20k but I'm open minded.

In any auction a declared hammer price doesn't necessarily mean the transaction was completed.

An online vehicle enquiry shows a V5C issued on 15 October 2022 which ties in with the auction date and strongly suggests an owner change. Note, a V5C can be issued for other reasons (e.g. lost document, address changes).

Yeah ... it looks like a £20-23K car at forecourt price. However, sold as seen at auction I think it would be prudent to put £8-10K in the war chest bringing it down to circa £12.5K incl. commission(?) Not sure about that interior though, I think it reduces its value further. I suspect it will not hit reserve.
12250 + commission with 2 days to go

Some nice cars in this auction in Holland, 11 Maseratis amongst them.

We were discussing Iso Fidia’s yesterday - this collection has one too, and I’m pretty sure it is the one that was owned by the guy I worked for

This is what it looked like in its better days - although if you dust this one off it will probably look quite decent.

In October the mileage was given as 25k, presumably approximated as the Brightwells listing has it a little bit lower, so it's either being moved around or was used very sparingly since October. It does look a decent car and it's had a few quid spent on it. Seems to have fallen short of the reserve.

I just don't see how someone could buy 250 cars over many years and just shove them into a warehouse.
I bought a 1966 BMW off a 90 year old bloke that owned loads of lock up garages in Essex - when he bought a new car, he parked the old one in a garage and left it there ! The bmw had been in the garage since 1972 . Bizarre
