CAR AUCTIONS

A good low mileage SZ is a rare thing but they do suffer from lack of use, a quick glance at the photos hint at some normal SZ issues especially with the paint but it will be interesting to see how much over £50k it goes

I do love the SZ. The interior does look fresh. Only wants new tyres. Might as well get the geometry reset at the same time. :D

Found myself looking longer at the other red car GranCabrio MC Centennial. Off out now to buy a lottery ticket, literally.

For reasons I have never understood, 911 turbos hold their value really well, even high mileage examples like this.
I thought it was quite a decent buy at that price - look at the spec. Recent works. And precisely because they hold their value.
Interesting contrast from the tip we saw recently...?

I know of a car that’s likely to be much, much better coming to market soon. I can put people in touch if they’re interested.

Some personal highlights from Historics May Sale

I do love a W140. Mainly for the story behind its construction – and what happened afterwards. Truly an exquisite place to do any journey of length, even after all these years. I also love the styling (there's a story behind that too); the whole car is a giant middle finger to everyone, almost. I love it for that.

Though this is the true hero of the breed...

Five takes on Italian elegance

Two takes on a beautiful way to end up poor and divorced

My favourite type of car – 90s GTs. The Maser's lack of three pedals would push me in the Porsche's direction on this occasion...

And this is just lovely

The problem I find is that it wasn’t long ago when everything on the list was between £3k and £13k. And they’re all daft money now.

Do like a w140 there’s a film with George Clooney that has one in a brilliant chase.

There is inflation to think of. 20 years ago I started buying 12" singles and they were £5 a pop, and seasoned DJs were moaning they were twice what they were at the start of the 90s.
Twenty years on from that 12" singles are now around a tenner and I am that guy bemoaning the price of new records...

yup, things of gone really nuts on some sought after classics, i did have a look at this capri 3.0s and although looks super to the untrained eye it was hiding a few worrying things under that shiny paintwork, still sold for 36k including commission

Lots of lovelyness there, several ways of spending money far too easily.

That Ghibli would be perfect if it was manual but, looking at the condition, at the low guide I might be willing to forgive it!

D4mn...fair play. Ill bring you with next time I buy a motor !
Spend £100K and sell at half that...wheres the logic ? Its like everybody uses Maserati man-maths !!

FFS don’t do that. My common sense goes out the window when there’s shiny in front of me. This is what you’d end up with.
