Actually that's a bloody good point. Granted I've only been in two (well one, and the RAF Officer's club) and they were nothing like that nice.

If it costs you twenty quid to get in and a grand to get out, it's like a gentlemen's club. Just check. And then buy it.

I had British Racing Green with Saffron interior and wood finish. Loved it. When I eventually sold it without the resident transport directors consent I ended up on cold rations for several weeks :-/

Go for it C, you only live once.

Pal of mine has two lovely parents who worked hard and long past retirement to build up a great pension and holiday home in Florida and one on a Spanish island. Mum had a stroke last year and now his dad has too, along with covid...one life, live it.

Have to say, I agree. All looks a bit monochromatic with black grey and silver. Much prefer the wood and tan leather. But not my car. Could always get the wood bits wrapped if you don’t warm to them

Hopefully get to see it next week ;)

It has a couple of other things: notably the stereo upgrade. Basically it ticks pretty much all the boxes. High milage, but scrupulously clean MOT history, many services it seems, good price. We shall see.

Spend it while you're young enough to enjoy it

We have tacit approval from the entertainments sub-committee. Or at least she said 'Do what you ******* want' ;)
No she didn't. She's not thrilled (it seems) but I'll take that as a win.

Hopefully I'll suddenly find myself with time on my hands this week, so if the weather holds a drive will be booked.

It's not good, is it?

I may have to speak to someone about this. So far the entertainment expenditure approval subcommittee is appearing un-impressed. I know she'll let me buy it, but there's actually a point of 'WTF am I actually going to do with it until the spring / summer. OTOH the last one that I was considering (which prompted my test drive thread) sold within the week, so I wonder if I should just bite the bullet.

And you can facelift the front end without too many issues.

I'm going to take that as a compliment!

It is , you're going into it eyes open , as long as Mrs Cat is ok with the potential for eye watering bills should it not go as well as you hoped go for it.

I assume it'll be coming with a very good warranty

Mrs C will not be aware of the bills :). In honesty from what I can see the potential is no worse than for the Masers. There's a few of the biggies (early vacuum hoses needing an engine out, but lots of the parts are shared with VW group, much of the engine is VR6 derived and it's the good old ZF box.

I'll have to get some VCDS software, and there's a very well regarded independent just up the road, so hopefully....

Warranty is yet to be discussed, but it's a trade sale
