STOP PRESS....After consultation with the Shiltech team this week, I have decided to reprice my QP at a 'market busting' £16,950 now. If interested then check it out on Piston Heads or Autotrader for details. Its an absolute bargain....

I hate to say this pal but I offered you over 19k a few months ago! I actually liked it a lot and having sold one before I knew you would drop but not by that much! If I had the cash, I would be knocking your door down this instant.

Ummmm....., dont recall you actually offering me anything other than asking lots and lots of questions and then rubishing the fact that I had all of the invoices to support all the work that had been done to QP .....and then asking me to pick you up from Carlisle airport!! So I think you have a different interpretation on the discussion Chris.

I don't wish to get into a public spat but I was simply being diligent and was very very serious as the messages suggest. I also made several emails and calls to Shiltech asking you to come down to £19,500 but they said the car had to be collected within 5 days which I couldn't do at that short notice! All I'm saying is I knew for a god given fact, no QP of that year/mileage would ever get 21.5k and you're now down a few quid and some because of 'perceived' value.

I'll tell you something though I might soon(3-6 months) be in the market for another QP so just bare that in mind.

Well Chris, I must have been on something because judging by your continual questioning and to be honest, not really a lot of serious progress in the discussion etc... I thought you were just playing the long game, which I wasn't interested in playing. As far as I am aware, Shiltech have only had 2 lines of enquiry both of which were dependant upon the individuals arranging finance. I was never made aware of who these individuals were, save to say neither lines of enquiry amounted to anything in the end. One got as far as a refundable deposit (I personally would never have accepted a refundable deposit) but within 2 days the individual backed out. So that is the back story. Sadly since June the used QP market has plummeted. Hopefully I have seen the worse of it now.
As you say, it's a cracking car so someone will get an absolute bargain when they eventually come up with the cash.

I would also say, if I haven't sold it by Christmas then I will almost certainly take it off the market and just enjoy it. :rofl5:

Fair enough. I wasnt messing bro, I owned a QP before and bought my latest with cash! All im saying is I was a prime candidate to buy your QP rather than someone who doesn't know the brand or need finance. Keep the car, they're cracking cars for the money

I think I have cut the price enough now...so I suspect I will end up keeping it for the foreseeable. Let's see what happens in the next couple of months or so.

Hmmm not down a few quid at all, he still has it....;)
Btw, there's nothing worse than telling a seller how much their car is worth, that would **** me right off. :)

I honestly would take it off the market now! Very few buy in winter and it doesn't do the car justice in terms of lighting etc never mind cash strapped x-mas folk.

I don't think it's winter...Very few buyers for these wonderful cars these days. Buy one these days and it's a keeper. It's a real shame but the market seems to be getting smaller and smaller.....Sometimes you first offer could be your best when selling.

Agreed, it is not a December or time of year thing. Times have changed....forever. Too many of these cars and similar out there with not enough and very few potential buyers.

I think this is the case too. Not so long ago, cool cars were a rare sight and volumes were low. Nowadays they’re everywhere and there is a generation who think they are irresponsible and irrelevant. I’ve noticed recently that the only compliments I get in the QP come from over 60s. The Armstrong Siddeley Hurricane gets the “cool car” shout-outs from younger people.

It’s been said before, but the horse analogy fits. When the motorcar (ICE) made the horse less relevant, a lot ended up in the knackers yard, but many became expensive leisure items. The favoured few became highly desirable and highly sought after.

Time to enjoy them while we can I reckon.

Or perhaps break it down for spares......must be some way of driving value out of this machine.

LOL....not quite sure you are quite there yet. It is lovely car and there will be a buyer for sure. Just at what price and when.

I would have been interested but have the XJL SuperSport now and pretty happy with that at the moment ;)

Funnily enough it has been a business idea of mine for a while if I could get out of this IT business at some point. There are a ton of massive lumpy exec complex cars at £5k ish that are worth more broken to parts. WOUld give my garage/workshop a nice workout!!

Still there as a back burning business idea together with the car storage business.

Well breaking for spares might be quite a lucrative option if you read the press reports. Mark ups on spares / breakdown parts are very significant ( up to 5 times) and would far outweigh the initial acquisition price of a whole car even taking into account the labour costs to strip the vehicle and the cost of financing. So maybe a good business model to do so in the future.
But for now I will look to sell the QP as a 'going concern'....
