Buying a quattroporte

Right now is a bad time to sell any big brand V8 or prestige. Too many uncertainties don't help the market. I have no idea on the worth of a QP whatever model. But across the board - Ferrari, Maserati etc. prices have softened considerably. If the need for the cash is not there, I'd perhaps suggest holding on to the cars and enjoying them - but keeping them in tip top shape and spending the required monies to ensure the highest value is maintained when the market becomes clearer and starts to recover.

It's a good call but I'm not convinced that the market for Maseratis is going to recover much at all, especially with QP's. With the ongoing uncertainty of BREXIT, UK General Election and the relative impacts on the UK economy ( if you believe the doomsayers of course!) it could be years away before there is any realistic realignment of the market, by which time the impact of further depreciation will have continued to eat away at the residual selling prices. So in actual fact there is never going to be a good time to sell. As you say if you are going to buy as a longer term 'keeper' then the financial consequences will not be of paramount importance.
Interestingly I was talking to a chap at 'Supercars' in the West Midlands this week and he sold 6 cars last week, 2 of which were Lamborghini's and 3 were Ferraris. So there is still a good market out there for high end performance cars of the right type... but sadly not much for Maseratis so it would seem.

As a previous owner of large saloons of various marks before entering the coupe market. I would frequently come out of my 'barge' with little more than scrap money for them;
Audi 100CS
BMW 740
Peugeot 607
Vauxhall Omega and Senator
None if them gave me more than a couple of grand back after a purchase price of c £12/15k. (Over 12 years ago)
I just took this as the normal course of the car just being worn out. No reason to believe it will be any different for the QP, in fact I think they are doing OK.
One other point, they are one of the few big cars with a petrol engine... at least you will be able to use it for longer that a S-Class sootter.

That maybe your experience but my QP is far from "worn out"!

If you're lucky and if you don't 'need' the cash, any decent MD will p/x at least £13k in order to get you into a Ghibli or QP6.
I'm not looking to p/x at this time. I also know I can get a lot more than £13k based upon discussions I've already had with a couple of dealers. So lets see what the next 2-3 months brings...maybe a pre or post Christmas present.

Signs aren’t good for the dealer trying to get 33k for the red one reading this thread!

That black GTS for 24995 that looked like it needed a bit spending on it didn’t seem to hang about too long though.
This one does look a steal at £16950 though, I must say.

Yes my QP is half the price of the one at Barrow....for essentially exactly the same car which has done 30k miles less. I know I wouldnt pay a £16k premium for 30k mileage advantage and I will be surprised if anyone will in this market. But then again you just never know.

If I could afford to run it as a daily I’d buy it, a new Fiesta is more, but that’s half the problem, running, servicing, repairs etc, I’d love it but I just can’t afford to run 2 masers, even though buying isn’t an issue......

Sadly that's the issue. The high cost of running performance cars can become prohibitive. But then again it's the same with all performance cars and it's part of the 'package' in owning a high performance car.
So Maserati are certainly not alone. The good news is my car has a full service history and invoices for any work which has been done on it so it's got the right pedigree.
