There are loads of business investment companies around, no idea how good they are. I believe the Government are supposed to have something in place, initially for under 25's, but I think they are going to expand that to other age groups.

I'd be speaking to the banks to begin with, and if the bank you use has a business lending division then all the better. Following all this quantitative easing the government needs to get all the spare money washing around in the Bank of England working to improve the economy and so they've 'lent' the banks loads of cheap money for exactly this purpose.

Hiya Emtee,
Ive spoken with the bank and tbh wasnt good news, they want to see a 45% investment from our end before they will even consider lending money out,
and according to them all the banks want to see that sort of investment.... After Pulling All our resources we are still short of 45%
the Business idea we have is sound, and has the potential to make some Good money but they will not even listen to the idea until we come up with cash!!!.

Personally speaking, I would need to be desperate to get an investor on board, OR they'd need to be bringing more than cash to the table.

Selling or giving away any of your business should be a last resort IMO. How much capital are you talking? If you're certain as can be that it'll work, can you extend a mortgage/get a loan? Sell the kids? If you hold fire and save up, will the opportunity be missed or taken by someone else?

We are pulling in all the funds we can but are short. The business idea is sound. It iz not impossible to get what we will be offering but it is extremely difficult. But people do want what we will have to offer.. yes iknow very vague in what im Saying.

If we hold out then I believe that the opportunity will be missed. And we are talking big money layout. ...

Dan a member on here had the same issue, he decided to sell his Lambo to get the funds, hard measures, but sometimes needs must. He will finish up getting another from the profit he makes..!!

Thanks guys I'm getting lots of good advice, keep it coming. Even if it sounds obvious still shout. With so much going on to try and get this off the ground for the wife and running around like a blue *** fly with my own work I may well have forgotten! One thing has sparked my interested greatly so watch this space!

Frank's link to funding circle is a good shout - they broker credit from both private / institutional investors (its a good place to throw a couple of quid if you've used your ISA allowance btw!) and if they accept your application you *will* get funded. Its certainly not a given, but you'll have a much better chance than door knocking banks...
