Just gone to get in the Maz and the passenger exterior door handle does not feel as if it is attached to anything.

The interior one still works and the window auto drops still.

Is it repairable ir do I need to order a new part?

I take it door card has to come off?

It feels like the rod has dropped off or has sheared if????

Advise please.

The outer door handle is held in place by I think 3 small cross head screws. They come loose real easy. I put some loctite on mine after tightening them up three times. It sounds like these are coming loose. They are a little tricky to see, but you can get into them with the inner door panel removed. the good thing is that the screws fall into the bottom of the door and you can fish them out. The door handle itself is quite solid and I would guess hard to break. Remember loctite! It might not be these screws but i would think its worth a look!

I think I have them in both doors, but the passenger one is a bit hard to track down.

Ok, had the door card off, the lock itself is broken. Someone had repaired it with some sort of epoxy where it broke before...what a bodge.

New one from Dick Lovetts £35, so thats on order.

All just little nighles. I don't mind spending the time as long as the parts don't cost the earth.

Near the end of the fix list now Frank, she'll be A1 in a week or so.

Can't wait for the winds from the east to stop so we can get some nice warm Atlantic air back and start spring proper...

Glad to hear the bits & pieces are close to finished, Matt. I'm also glad it was you who bought that car, not me...I don't have the time, space or toolkit to sort her out like you're doing, and I'm guessing it would have cost a small ransom even at an indie...

Indeed Chris, I have fixed probably 20 items apart from the front bumper (£300) they are all cheap items, it just takes time and I knew the faults before I bought the car. Recon I have spend about £600 in total getting her A1.
