A some of you know im pending a brake upgrade by AP racing ,was hoping it was coming to fruition shortly , what with their time being taken up this season with further F1 car develoment its been delayed somewhat , just recieved this email yesterday , was hoping to have it all done for LLandow looks like it might be touch and go now

Hi Loz

Front kit is sorted but won't be finished until 3rd week August!

The rear kit is proving a bit of a problem! ?We needed to design a new caliper that would drop over the standard disc. This solution will save the customer money because the rear upgrade will only involve direct lug mount calipers mounting bolts and pads; but unfortunately it costly for APR. We need to pay for a lot of new tooling to produce this bespoke caliper design specific to the Massa and with only 10prs ordered it's coming out extortionate on cost. So APR production is re negotiating to get the piece part price down. If we were making 100 off plus no problem but small batches always are when costs are amortised.

I should have an answer by the end of this week and a due date for when they expect them, but if not contact Ian Nash during next week. I'm out of the office from Friday until 16Th August but he'll be able to keep you informed of the progress.

Pete

Hopefully things will materialize and i will make the deadline , so frustrating

Sounds interesting Loz. One question - if they're proposing a replacement caliper for a standard rear disc then what are the benefits of changing from a standard caliper?

The Newly designed AP rear callipers Mark ,have larger pads and 2 more pots , increased braking power , just as important they will match the front ones , couldn't bear to have odd front and rear callipers , as you will appreciate 70% of the braking is at the front so improved wider larger better vented front discs ,bigger but lighter Front callipers with increased pad size will improve the braking time quickly and sufficiently enough to allow greater cooling times or thats the theory, The Oem rear disc will be retained asthe re-manufacture costs versus any efficiency gained are miniscule but the costs are a lot higher and deemed unnecesary

Hi Loz, must be frustrating that it's dragging on, but hopefully you'll get there. Without wishing to be nosey, how much is this costing? Sounds expensive? You mention ten sets. Have you taken orders / commitments? Cheers, Miles.
