You can get them (front discs) from Ferrari/Maserati at the £500 a pair price (plus fitting!) for what I would consider to be fairly ordinary one piece discs which should be about £150 a pair.

Brembo who used to make aftermarket versions are sold out and are not restocking.

These discs in various drilled configurations are the same for Ferrari 550 Maranello, Ferrari 456, Maserati 3200GT, and Maserati 4200. So owners of these cars are in in the same boat.
It is a bit of a rip off and doesn't do the Ferrari/Maserati brand any favours, but I guess they can do this as part of their "If you can't afford a Maserati/Ferrari you shouldn't have one" concept/policy and to ensure that they continue to make profit from owners of used cars.

This of course means that whilst ownership is very exclusive and exclusive can mean desirable, they will not be able to compete with BMW or Mercedes in the big exec market as those cars are bought by pragmatic accountants.

Eurospares show the 550 disks in stock at £122 +vat each disc

Perhaps Maserati have got wind of us producing our own discs, which will also fit the 550 and 456, which will hit them in the pocket and have decided to lift the embargo in an attempt to stop us from producing them...stranger things have happened.

It would be the easiest plan wouldnt it?
Anyhow I've ordered from another supplier a set of 456 discs. Waiting on Autoperformance to refund the dosh as they were out of stock.

Zizzy_a2z is out of stock too! and we had to cancel my order!

Yes, I checked out Eurospares and the 550 discs (pair, inc VAT) are advertised at ;

Front : £287
Rear : £411

So first question;
Given that the Group Buy is no longer happening (I think !?), is this the only realistic option that's open right now ?

Secondly,
I'm confused with all the differing opinion on Pads....

Which manufacturers supply ones that fit the Gransport 'straight out of the box'?
Where's the best place online to purchase/compare prices?

It appears this forum recommends;
# EBC (Red / Yellow)
# Ferodo
# Pagid

Any advice greatly appreciated!!

Best,

Others have used Pagid as well and have a lot of good to say about them. I'm on EBC Yellowstuff and find them very good. Occasionally need a bit of extra pressure when cold and braking at low speed, but very happy with them. Previously had ferrodo's and they were great, only swapped to try the yellows out. If you do a lot of high-speed braking, the yellows bite better than the ferrodo's when warmed up and fade less.

Personally I prefer Ferodo DS pads primarily because they bite better from cold, you have to be using them really hard to get them to fade.

EBC Yellowstuff are slightly better on the limit but only really noticeable on track days. Greenstuff pads have a terrible **** twitching moments when cold would never use them again.

Have Pagid pads in the Giulietta and they seem OK but they lack feel, this might be just because they have not been used properly due to the low miles it used to do before I got it. A couple months with me and I will be able to make a better judgement.

I'm fitting yellow stuff front pads for the Modena trip. The DS pads I've got in are ok and don't readily fade but I think I prefer the feel of the yellow stuff I've got in my BM.

OrangeStuff is what I will be putting in mine :)

IIRC, Orangestuff are a track only pad which work better when hot. This might indicate a lack of bite from cold which is not ideal for a road car. Also, as my disc faces are beginning to heat crack with Yellowstuff the Orangestuffs greater friction might be too much for our standard discs. Just a thought.

Benny are the Yellowstuff still good for around town?

I've got a couple of trackdays coming up, so I want pads that will handle both... I don't think I should trust the OEM pads.

Yes mate they are. I took Conaero out in my BM and he was quite impressed with the brakes. On the way home I didn't touch them at all until I hit them cold at just over 100, the instant bite and deceleration caught him very much by surprise. They have great cold bite and occasionally have to bring quite a heavy car down from 160+ (on a track, obviously) without fade and that is why I am putting them on the front of my spyder. FWIW, I already have Yellowstuff on the back.

I have tried OrangeStuff on other cars and they work fine for me ;)
As for the discs, well, they wil crack and warp anyway :p

When I have the pads on I will give some feedback!
