I joined the forum a couple of years ago as I was looking to purchase a GT. Unfortunately I was distracted by an E63 M6, which has been a great experience...that V10! However, I am back on the hunt for a GT sport has the kids require more rear legroom. I have found one that I am interested in, however, it doesn't have Bose. What's the view on the necessity of Bose? (I appreciate the exhaust note is all I would want to listen to!)
From what I have read, it's not that great, so an aftermarket upgrade would be advisable. The car is well priced, probably due to not having the Bose, so inevitably this will affect when I come to sell.

Hello & welcome along

The infotainment system on the GT is probably the one negative that many owners complain the most about. I get on with it 'ok' but it could be a lot better.
The Bose definitely improves it however but I would imagine that a speaker upgrade on a non Bose equipped car would do just as good a job if not better.

Good luck & keep us posted

When I bought my GTS, I saw it had BOSE branded speakers and thought oh great!....then I turned it on and was very disappointed, its rubbish.

So, for you thats a positive. You will soon learn that engage SPORT and drop the drivers window an inch is all the music you need!

I've found BOSE systems in cars to be utter rubbish, without exception. You're better off without it IMO and spending a little to upgrade the speakers and add an amp. Frank's GTS has had this done and sounded very good indeed at LM.

Got Bose in the GT S, it's pants.

Don't get hung up on it. Plenty of awesome aftermarket kit that will blow the Bose out of the water.

BOSE sounds unreal when you turn volume down, roll window down, whack her in sport and let her go through 1/2 nice and easy!

To be fair the BOSE was awesome in my Alfa GT, great system. Ok there are better but being partially deaf in one ear, it did the job for me.

Just another case of Alfa getting right and Maserati getting it so wrong.

I ripped the BOSE out of my Alfa GT as i thought it was truly awful. I built my own system for a moderate cost and it was infinitely better.

I have the B&W system in my Ghibli and it's passable. Only problem is that it cost over £3600 as an option. Definitely not worth it, a vastly better sounding system could be built for half that.

My original Bose sounded rubbish, not a patch on the Bose in our Porsche.
However it packed in and I took plunge to buy new unit from Maserati but upgraded to 2014/2015.
No one could explain why but the difference was massive, the new unit sounds as I would of expected.
Makes you wonder wether somehow wiring harness gets dislodged or mis fitted.
However from a financial prospective I doubt it's the most cost effective improvement.

My QP has Bose , and it's fine. Then again I only ever listen to the wireless (6 music via my iPhone) on the rare occasion windows are shut.

I have Bose in the 911 and the QP and it is very nice indeed, I have Bose all around the home and whilst it is not quite as good as my Bang & Olufsen system in the living room, it still is far better than many previous cars I have owned, its a bit basey, whereas the B&O has a nice mid midrange, I'd certainly recommend it.

I have had 2 GTs - one with and one without Bose. And I can't hear any difference.

Exhaust.

I thought it was decent in my GTs however my later Jags b&w system was incredible.
I think I'd go aftermarket as suggested previously

^^^ this.

I have Bose in my GTS. Had I spent £1500 on it as an option when it was new I'd have been a bit miffed. The money would have been better spent on an aftermarket system.

Anyway, good luck and happy hunting. Give Nareman at Nuvola, Dicky Grace and ADG a shout. They're good.
