Boot handle doesn’t work but key fob does

It works off the key so one for the garage next time it’s in now lol

Those wires disappear off into the realm!

I think most of the causes have been covered:
  1. Broken wires in the duct between lid and car body
  2. Switch failure (covered)
  3. Setting in the NIT

There is a setting to unlock the boot with the other doors or not from memory.

Which more and more feels like the right thing. The button on the boot doesn't unlock the boot. So if the boot is locked, only the fob and the button in the car will open it

So how do you unlock it if it’s not with the doors? Do you press the fob twice in quick succession or hold it down?

The fob will always unlock and open it. No matter if the doors are locked.

Just press it once (I'm working from memory here!)

The lock/unlock part of the fob rather than the boot button. I think in my Audi you pressed the unlock once and it unlocked the drivers door and then you pressed it again and it unlocked passenger and boot.

GT has a separate button for the boot.

Three buttons: Lock, Unlock and Boot (Although from memory you can do something similar with the doors on the unlock from the NIT, It either unlocks all the doors, the doors and the boot or just the driver's side)

I know. But if you can set it in the NiT to not unlock with the doors there must be a way you can unlock it and still use the handle instead of the fob boot button.

I don't think so, no. And I can't really see any reason why there would be.

But I could be way off

Fob held or button inside. Once I press the button inside it is unlocked all the time so I can use button multiple times until I lock the car again.

So for the OP. Once you’ve unlocked it using the button does the handle work? If not then it’s nowt to do with NIT settings.

Button in the car or fob? In car button unlocks and pops. If I close again I can use the handle until I lock the car. Key opens and pops boot if press and hold. Once shut it is locked again if car is locked as expected.

using the key:
  1. Lock car
  2. Unlock car
  3. Press and hold boot open till it pings

No joy? Disconnect battery for half an hour, reconnect and try again.

The key button works it just doesn’t open from
The boot handle. Handle replaced no changes so for me it’s a wire break or dodgy / dirty connector situation

Tried that no change

Sounds like a broken wire possibly in the connector that the boot handle connects too. I cant figure out why else the internal boot release would work and not the handle.

The normal weak spot would be the flex conduit from the body to the boot. But unless the boot handle is a seperate circuit to the internal boot release i cant see why that would still work.
