Help required gents, has anyone had repeated trouble with their bonnet catch, mine has been playing up of late to such an extent that even on our fine potholed roads it has been popping open!
Tonight whilst lubricating the cables that open the catches I noticed that one of the two catch springs appeared to be out of alignment with the aperture, ie the curved section of the bonnet hooking spring (part No16 in the attached) was not centralised, (hope that bits clear) it was too far back.
When I made an attempt at pushing the bonnet hooking spring forwards to where it should be by only 1cm or so it has become detached and is now free of the bracket (part No17 in the attached), I took off the grill but its not accessible from there, hard to see how you can get to it from the engine bay, bit of a nightmare situation really for what I though would be a 5 minute job!
Has anyone else had anything like this? and if so is it accessible via the wheel arch and headlight aperture or am I looking at a bumper off job? Does anyone have any photos of the bracket in question? Looking forwards to any answers on this one!
