So they need something that is:

Affordable
Safe
Comfortable
Roomy
And given the latest government proposals to crack down on older drivers - not too fast.

I therefore commend to you this little baby:

My dad ,77 years just got a suzuki vitara 1.4 hybrid.
He liked that it was the most simple of the ones he saw. Cabin is a bit low rent for plastics and has good use of space. I haven't asked him on fuel economy

I pointed one of those out to her recently and she thought I was joking - said it was properly ugly

Give her a slap and tell her to get with the programme. If I was ever in the market for a vehicle that was badly compromised by consumer stupidity, a Yeti would be it. It's unlikely to happen because I can think for myself, but if I ever have a full frontal lobotomy, that's the car in this genre that I would go for.

Wifey has a 3 year d F500 x cross paid about £11k for it.

very spacious same 2L D as in my Alfa and 4x4.

Hers is Auto and her only negative comment is the engine is noisy, but she is used to petrol and this is her first D

I’ve driven it and it’s very good

Check out the Mazda CX-30 or Peugeot 2008.

RAV4 mentioned before is good as well but its a size up from these cars, a C-HR is around this size but that’s not too good really.

Anyone here own or have owned a Porsche Cayenne...?
Yep. Briefly. Absolutely great car. I had a 4.8 and was warned at the time that it was thirsty. They were right! Single figure mpg in the city and way too big. However get it on a motorway or A road and it comes alive. Fuel consumption is a lot better and it performs like a big hot hatch. Lots to go wrong!
