So, Larini have a section attempting to address the warranty question here
https://www.larinisystems.com/technology/warranty

Basically, if a replacement part is of OE standard, or above, they are not supposed to be able to use this as a reason to refuse a warranty claim. It's all laid down in an EU regulation known as Block Exemption. HOWEVER, myself and several other members have first hand experience of maserati and ferrari warranties and so I would be careful. The letter of the law protects you but if they chose to act outside of that, you have to consider what's involved with the argument. In the end, my issue was resolved and I was partly to blame but it could have been resolved in a much more effective and swift fashion.

Thanks for the feedback, I will be calling Larini this week and placing an order.....

I'm glad that you decided to go the X route David, you won't regret and hopefully nor will your wife & neighbours!
Buying directly from Larini seems to make sense and as for fitting, you could try Magraths who aren't too far from you as I know you haven't had any joy with Shiltech

Thanks Stuart, didn't know about Magraths, will contact them to fit it:thanks2:

Great thanks mate- I will look into it.

PS- not sure how you can say it's horrible. Significantly faster to 60 than a strad. Shorter and more agile.
Depends what you are comparing it to. I am a surgeon - not Valeri Bottas.

You'll soon be a surgeon in a hair dressers Ferrari LOL

If it floats your boat go for it but I was given one when my 458 was in for a service and I gave it back on day two as it was horrible. Speed is not everything. I would have an MC cabriolet over one anyday!

Give us a bit more insight. The Cali and the 458 are totally different so a comparison isn't much use, of course, but what didn't you like about it?

PS - what the fvck kind of a hairdresser can afford a Ferrari?? Not any one I've ever been to. Mind you, I'm not exactly perfectly coiffed. Perhaps I should find a barber with a Fezza.

Took out an MC cabrio on the same day. V disappointed with the sound compared to my MC shift. The finance figures were appalling too. Felt much bulkier than the Cali.
I took the 458 out the week after along with a vantage V12. In the 458, although an event for sure, I felt my penis shrink markedly and my IQ halve, and the Vantage was stunning but I felt about 10 years older.
I cant imagine life without an Aston at some point, but for the moment the only thing I could swap a GTs for is a California.
I miss the sound so much though... still no doubt in my mind the GTs best VFM car out there.

It's all personal taste - but one could have predicted he would say that, As I could have predicted he would have slagged off the mclaren.

The Macca-Fezza rivalry is fun to watch. A sane man would buy neither, but given the cash and buying new with a warranty I'd have a 650 spider in a heartbeat. Second hand, the less reckless choice would have to be a 458. I really like them, but i don't have enough cars that one of them could be quite so focused.

Agreed . Both stunning cars but I don't see how they fit into normal people's lives.
I want to drive mine to work at least 2-3 times a week and nip out in them at weekends , drop my daughter off at school etc. Can't imagine doing that in a macca or a 458.

How can you predict that? I have owned Mclaren's, Ferraris, Astons and Lamborghinis and I am seriously contrmplating putting down a deposit on a 720s too. I don't buy cars for what others think (your comment on small dicks) I buy them for my own pleasure and no I'm not an instagrammer either and can thankfully afford to have more than one of these in my stable at a time.

Issues I had with the California?

Looked shite IMHO
Roof down car had mega scuttles and shake vibrations
Horrible infotainment system out of halfords
Clunky steering
Horrible handling
Sounded shite

If you think you can do your school runs and Tesco shops in a California without being noticed then you are wrong! A Ferrari for most is a Ferrari and you'll face all the drama that comes with one.

I rest my case.

BTW if you felt like you had a small dick in a 458 you'll lose you willy in an Aventador LOL

Well said. I briefly flirted with a California, but changed my mind after a test drive. And then you take off the rose (or should that be Rosso) coloured spectacles, and compare it with the beauty of a GTS, and you realise how ugly it is from most angles.

And I don't get why you'd want a daily driver that's faster than a Stradale, particularly if you're not Valteri Bottas

 Is that like losing your heart in San Francisco? Could be quite a song...

Anyway, given the cash I would be seriously tempted by a 720S, certainly in preference to a 488. I spent a while seriously coveting a 12C but the huge costs of remedying any problems are terrifying. That and the total lack of an indie service network means you're dependent on main dealers which ceases to be ok as soon as you're out of warranty.

Anyway, I'm not sure my driving talents would notice much scuttle shake on a Cali and a Larini exhaust can fix the sound objection. I can't believe it's any more wallowy than my GTS, but do agree that the infotainment is pretty ugly. But you probably don't buy a Fezza for its nice satnav.

MCS, it's horses for courses. I've driven both Cali's and a 458 and I've enjoyed them all. In my honest opinion, I would have a Cali T out of the 3, not because it's the best car but it's because it's the best car for my needs. I drove the Cali T HS on track and on the road and it was just brilliant. Open top, front engine and rear wheel drive, great engine, fab gearbox, loads of space and comfortable seats. Bollox to scuttle shake, it happens but it's part of the character of the car and the extra stiffness provided by McLaren will make no difference to the driving prowess of most McLaren drivers. Whilst you have the luxury of driving some of the worlds best cars most of us don't so, to dis the cars we aspire too is a little offside and not particularly helpful. If you drove my sh!tbox 4200 spyder you would, in all probability, hate every second but, hand on heart, I wouldn't swap it for your shiny, new, on order Aventador S. We all welcome constructive criticism but your comments on the Cali T, to me, were complete bollox.

Did you drive the Cali or Cali T? As for looks, who cares if a GTS looks better than a Cali? Surely, that's uncomfortably close to vanity. However, if it comes down to hustling one through the Alps I'd take the Cali T every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

The discussion was not around a Cali-T but around the previous Gen Cali. The Cali-T is a much nicer car and has moved the game on considerably from the earlier car. You're getting stroppy for no reason whatsoever, it's a public forum and I can say what I want. If I don't like a car there is no need for me to please anyone and say I love it! Sorry I can't lie for something you aspire to or not and whether you or I can afford it or not is irrelevant, I gave my reasons why I don't like it and you gave yours as to why you do and that is what a public forum is all about :) I actually find your response as complete bollox ;)

I personally like them both. The new one is nicer (find me a model upgrade which is a retrograde step) but it's also £50k more. That's 2x average annual salaries, which is a shitload of money by most normal standards!

IMHO and many others on the Ferrari forums too the 488 is a retrograde step up from the naturally aspirated 458 :)

So, if the Cali T is so much better why not mention the fact rather than trash all Calis? Btw, I'm not getting stroppy because cars are a personal thing and we all have different tastes. I could mention a mate who has just bought a 650S because he said the 458 was cr4p, yet you say it's the best car you've ever owned. Also, as you point out, it is a public forum and I can say what I want too.
