Welcome Dazzy. You've got Maserati under your skin already, so that'll rule out the Jag.

Go try all the models and see which you prefer as they're all utterly brilliant. Prepare to be seduced by whistles of turbos and boomerang lights though. I love my 3200 for both of those reasons and also because it has a slightly raw side which gives it so much character. I was sitting in mine at Tesco car park this morning whilst waiting for 'er indoors and some random old bloke meandered up to the car, studied the badge on the grill and then wandered round to the rear for a good look from all angles before wandering off again. Turned several heads on the way out too.

Welcome Dazzy - the kids and I loved watching your video and it's good to see that such competitions are actually real :)

I have owned a 2007 early new shape 4.2 supercharged Jaguar XKR which I paid £20k for drove for 12 months added 9k miles and sold for £22k :) They are great cars, annual servicing was £300 and I had absolutely no other costs so very reliable indeed. On the other hand if you are buying an older maser do keep aside £4k a year to maintain it..The Jag is a great car but does not have the soul and pedigree of the Maserati :)

I like it so much I bought a newer 5.0 one with a sports pack and black pack too! Thanks mcs, apart from the weekend fun drives i would be doing a family 200-500 mile round trip 2-4 times a year, would you say the rear seats on the XKR are ok for the kids? Mine are aged 6 & 4.

4k a year maintenance I'm on budget to do half that. And that's with two craked wheel repairs. With new tyres

Yes they would be absolutely fine as long as you and your mrs are not 6ft ! The boot can easily take a full sized suitcase too.

Four years plus and I've spent no more than £2 in total (excluding the wheels) but then I'm doing my own work :)
