Had received a gift from a friend in Sweden (true petrolhead of course) of a
'Best of Supercar' experience.
Have booked it for the middle of August and consists of
Introductory lap by instructor in Rangie.
Then I drive for a few laps in
Ferrari 599
Aston Martin DBS
Lamborghini Murcie LP640
Followed by full-out lap by instructor in an M5 (?).
Sounds like heaven to me and a **** good thing I have my licence back a fortnight before the event.
Any tips guys?
Going to Longcross near Chobham for the drives.

I see this as a perfect chance of learning a bit about handling cars generally.
Never too old to learn.
My gorgeous daughter-in-law is coming with me to take the pix.

Andy,
it was last Sunday.
Funny how I feel ancient now.
Should I swap the 4200 in for a Toyota Yaris?

Happy Birthday for last Sunday.

I went with a mate to this exact venue a couple of months back - his kids bought it for Christmas (he's a similar age to you). It was a day run by 5thGearExperience. Its very slick and looks like a lot of fun. They make a lot of their money from the add ons - pics etc - but the cars they have are spectular and the opperation is very professional. I'm sure you'll have a blast.

If its worth anything at all, they are the only company I would want to do a driving experience with.

Take plent of pics and make sure you post them up for us to enjoy :)

No Mark, you should get it DMSed and go hunting for supercars to embarrass. Remember, you are never too old to kick a55!

Loz,
have been thinking about you and can only say how happy I am to see you back.
Whilst I am a lean contributor to the forum and have missed the salient bits about your illness; I sincerely hope you have made a decent recovery and do look forward to meeting you again.
Your knowledge and wisdom and legendary.

Yes I was caught on February 20th on a clear piece of good dual carriageway in Poole, early on a Sunday morning. The police in an unmarked BMW were very good about the offence; I rated their handling of it highly.
Thankfully they only used the average speed over a timed distance in the summons; which was 132.02mph (I am sure you can imagine that the highest speed was beyond that but won't publish what it was. Enough to say that the car was driving beautifully and had plenty more horses to call uopn; my driving was not dangerous (commented on by the police) and I was driving well within the limits of both road and conditions. It helps make a mockery of the 70mph limit on dual-carriageway and Motorway roads.
I went to court early in June and received a 56 day ban and a £185 + £50 court cost fine. This was due to my limited financial resources (the required an verified breakdown of income and expenditure).
So I have only just over two weeks left to serve of the ban and can't wait to be behind the wheel again. I will have Emblem check over the car shortly anyway for the annual MOT and Service and will have a spot of wax-oyling done at the same time.
Then I'm back in business and can enjoy the fabulous experience of my beautiful car.

As to the track-day; it's going to be a welcome way of returning to driving, being able to put safe-driving techniques into practice and will help improve my own driving; of which I am generally proud.
Of course, you will get to see the photographs.

56 day ban and £185 plus £50 costs, i would call that a mega result Mark , well done that Chap, 3 cheers for that fellow hip hip, i would have said the license return timing was immpeccable but its sheeting down with rain here in MK , If you could tell me what magistrates court you were heard at , i'll be sure to request that one if an and when i get caught for speeding again ,If the court only knew that your about to spend your whole yearly income on a pre Mot check/service and wax oiling they might just have upped the fine a little hahah

warm regards loz
