Found one i like look of on pistonheads, 2001, 75k on clock had brakes clutch & major service at 69k, going to have a look wednesday :)
Anything i need be looking for? Seen some horror stories about endfloat problems on higher milage cars.
Anything i need look through paperwork to check has been done?
Guess at millage going to require minor service soon as i buy it, if i do :)
How are 3200 for tinworm?

Hi Alfa155stick.......get an independent inspection done........................simply and absolutley the most important thing to do. Cost £200-300...can save you £2-3K!

Endlfoat very rare, should all be fixed by now

History...history........history...all by MDs or Indie specialists...no one else effectively.

Need to be sure red key present, check all paperwork, invoices.

No real problem re tinworm...but most problems will be revealed by the above indie inspection.

Let us know how you get on.

Tin worm just fine generally , places to check are rear arches and bottom of boot , 3200 has timing chains and belts , the chains should be done according to the schedule at 68K miles , its expensive and supposed to be engine out , so around the £1800 at the dealers , tho many indies can do it in situ now for around the £1200 mark , a good bargaining point when negotiating if they havent been done , belts are a must at the correct intervals ,check the service history is near as **** it , and dont be put off if a good indie has been used , they tend to look after the cars better than the dealers , also rear lights have no led s missing from those boomerangs there quite expensive to replace ,

As per Loz...when I had mine in 2007 it had rust bubbles on the rear wheel arch inner.......the engines are unburstable so should be a problem...it's the sensors that are a pain a pack up.....Check all the electrics and the best advice anyone will give you is get an indi inspection....

If you don't mind me asking what car are you looking at......someone may know it....

Oh and a big welcome to the forum...

I was looking at that advert today....seems a good price and a very nice colour combination.....seems to have a good service history.....but an inspection would let you know of anything that may not be right....

Not dealt with the dealer but they have sold a number of Maserati over the last few years.....well worth a look I would say.....

It wears the ACs/4200 wheels well......sky hook suspension can give trouble......all covered by your friendly local inspection

If a dealer can write cr4p like that I would take anything he says regarding the car with a pinch of salt. Every time I took mine out before it was chipped I always reflected on how underpowered it was. Tw4t.

I posted his words on another thread a few weeks ago as I also though it was a bit much...

To aid your negotiation, this car was sold for less than £9000 at Christmas. The previous owner was David Tremayne, a well known and highly regarded motoring journalist, and once Editor of Motor Sport. I was going to view as I know the owner, but the trip to Darlington was a nads too far. I am sure it is a fine car, though it had a scrape on one rear wheelarch, and the handbrake lever handle was missing.

I think you should be able to knock them down on price a fair bit, as I suspect they paid £8k or less.

Replace the word "censored" with "maseratiforum" in the URL above and you will see one of the original adverts.

As Loz says the big service should have included cam chains as well as belts, rightly or wrongly this has a big impact on value. There are many who deem the chain swap a bit too belts and braces, and equally many who wouldn't take the risk!

I bet dealers curse forums like this!!!
