No, it's a plastic box with lead plates and some sulphuric acid in it. Just disconnect and reconnect the new one. The car will work out the rest.

Is the fitment 017 or 019? Eurocarparts say 019 but Tayna say 017...

I believe both fit. The Exide has a different number again.

Just ordered the Exide on the basis of recommendations here. EXIDE call their 019 an 017TE for some strange reason (direct confirmation from the retailer). Superb service from Tanya - order 2pm, delivered 9am next day.
