I think there are various reason for this Dem/Andy , firstly that many 3200's are disappearing , either being shipped out to OZ , or being written off , in my 4 years of ownership there are certainly a lot less forsale on a regular basis , 2ndly and possibly due to the more recent discovery of cheaper fixes for the 3200's in herrent problems , they can now be run on the same budget as a 4200

regards loz
Not sure on the cheaper fixes reasoning....the only key saving I can think of that is specifically related to the 3200 and not of benefit to ownership of both is the throttlebody. The 'additional' costs of the 3200 are really just belts and chains, and they still stand.

I think it's more in line with your first comment on there being fewer available, and also increasing disparity between cheap 3200s that should be avoided, and those at the top end that have been well maintained – the latter have been holding their value well for a year or two now. Obviously, having owned both at the same time, I would also be well placed to say that the 3200 is the better choice than the 4200 too :f2:

I would have to agree with you there Nig ;-)

How is the AC coming along?

All good thanks - running really nicely.... just had belts, chains, valve timing and clearances done, plus a full service. It's booked into a recommended bodyshop to get the back bumper removed and painted (as it has faded very slightly) and the rest of the car machine polished....the guys are complete perfectionists so I know it's in safe hands (they did Ross's car on the other forum). Send me a text when you're next passing by and will try to meet up!

I offered Dem £35,000 for his AC and he turned me down.......well it's too late now...... Nobody gets a second chance after they turn me down

Does anyone remember that AC that was up for sale for c.36K a couple of years ago?! I wonder what happened to that.

Was advertised on here for a bit aswell after he had reduced it down to £24K still didnt sell , and also the mileage was a bit high compared to some , but general condition and history was very good

Knew the owner of the red AC. He was having a laugh with his initial price. Doubt it would have gone for more than 20K in the end.
Agree with the comments on 3200s now. You can buy for 9K, but would you want to? You will always do better with a 14-15K example which has been well cared for. (BTW my comment in Autocar was originally "you can get one worth having for 13K" - which I still stand by). There are now only about 640 left in the UK (75 odd on SORN).
After 8.5 years of 3200 ownership I still love them to bits.....

The big problem with 3200s is that they don't have smooth bonnets and Honda rear lights.

I'm thinking of retro fitting the "Honda" lights off the 4200!!!!

A great upgrade for the 3200 Me thinks....;-)

Did anyone buy this....would be interested in seeing a scan. I looked in Autocar today and there was nothing 3200-related there....so it must've been a new week's edition.
