when they said a lovely 599, i was expecting to see one in something like Blu Mirrabeau with creama leather, Not black with the tacky bodywork additions and nasty wheels.

Adam 599 should never be Blu Mirr...Just not the right colour for a Ferrari........Maserati yes, Ferrari no.

It was a Testarossa 512 TR with Cargraphic trinkets Rob, similar to this one..

Really nice to meet people yesterday and put some faces to names.

Marcelle and I really enjoyed it

trouble is she now fancies an Abarth :(

I was a little disappointed in the lack of Lamborghini showing. Not bothered by Ferraris.

We actually thought that they gave us the prime position on the front row of the tarmac.
Much better than further round on the grass where the Ferraris were

We both expected more in the way of stands etc., but never havin been to one of these before, didn't really know what to expect.
Never been to the Gaydon museum before I have to say that we both rather enjoyed looking around it. (wouldn't rush back though!)

For me the highlight was meeting and talking to the rest of you.

As an aside
popped into B&Q in Reading on the way home and as we came out back to the car spotted a nice silver 2000 3200 GTA in the car park in front of us.
(How may people take a Maser to B&Q?)
We got talking to the owner and his wife and spent about 30 minutes swapping info. (his is 90k miles, 1 owner before him, full Meridian service history)

I've told him about the forum and suggested he joins us.

So if you're lurking Charlie, please sign up

Cheers

Gordon

It was nice to meet you both yesterday I am sure there will be a meet a bit closer to you both shortly. One of the reasons I like this forum is that you can suggest a meet in your part of the country and usually get a few locals together and some others and have a great time.

I twas good to see some of you on Saturday, i turned up just after midday to add to the rather depleted numbers on the Ferrari pitch.
The 599 is owned by a friend of mine, he always modifies them, and trust me the mods are not just skin deep, his 430 is a twin turbo so i can only imagine what he's done to the 599.

it may not be to everyones taste but I like the fact he is willing to push the boundaries, I thought the 599 looked good in the flesh, the pics don't really give an idea of the presence the car had.

Did anybody speak to the guy with the blue spyder who came later.
I went over to chat with him and ask him about his car. talk about arrogant!!!!! he was so dismissive, he must have thought I was a maser groupie.
turns out he is a writer for Auto Italia.
I think the differance between the sports maserati forum & the other mob is that we are real people from all walks of life who are real enthusiasts and enjoy maserati without social discrimination.
for a " hack " to have such an attitude towards the sort of people who buys his magazine, and lets face it, its not exactly the tattler is it, beggars belief.

didn't get his name, wouldn't want to know him , but...............I believe he lives in upper myarse.........t*sser.

Hi Roger,

That would be me!
As you can see your old car is still doing loyal service and is in fine shape.
A credit to how well you looked after it earlier in its life.

I agree, it looked much better in the flesh than the pics we took of it.
