So the Irish government have closed Bars and Clubs until the end of the month, schools already closed what next. Some people are talking of complete lockdown like Spain and Italy but for how long? The impact could be wider and longer than anyone is currently predicting (other than Wattie obviously)

I am not aware of anywhere that hasn’t locked down that has had infections that have had long enough to spread that is linked into mainstream media- does anyone else know? Seems governments are taking different strategies but the ultimate end point is lockdowns either in Dribs and drabs or all at once. I would be interested to see if the senior advisors kids are at school and their parents are at bridge club. I would predict it’s the same as when Tony Blair was in power trying to push ‘specialist nurses’ on the healthcare system to cut costs- but as soon as he went into an irregular heart rhythm he was straight in to see the professor of cardioology at the Hammersmith. I think a fundamental in power should be to advise others as you would advise your own loved ones. That’s what I do. No drama, no panic, just honestly based on knowledge.

They’re very supportive.
From day 1 I’ve tried to highlight the seriousness of what we are all facing- globally, with cv
The actions I’ve taken can be applied to the Uk.
Maybe you need to go to page 1 and start reading from there.
While you’re at it look at the financial stuff I’ve posted pre Brexit. I’ve assisted many on here.

With Europe now on full lockdown the frontier here is virtually shut , open only to workers who need to cross. Already feels like we are land locked but I suppose that was always going to happen.
We have 30k people and 3 supermarkets so as you can imagine its going to get ****** here for a while.
Bars /Restaurants are now closed and soon I fear our shop on Main St will no doubt be forced to close too due to the people traffic that go up and down. Gibraltar has about 8 million tourists per year which will now be zero so any tourist based industy will suffer and we have a large amount of gaming companies here that due to sports being cancelled will also now suffer.
The proverbial bug has hit the windscreen and while CB's cut rates it will make no difference as people are stuck home.

Different strategies are good - how else do we learn what is effective other than testing A or B? Each nation has different infection profile, transportation systems, demographics, geography, social & political constructs and scientific advice. (It's one reason why I like independent nation-states rather than superpowers or 'world government'.) (I also like 'postcode lotteries' as it shows that different approaches are being tried.)

And of course politicians do different things for themselves than for the nation. Personal choice is very different from population-wide decisions, and rightly so (partly just choices, partly, demographics, partly trajectory of a policy). Plus wealth has it's privileges (in the current system) and anything else would be communism (not great so far) or incredible altruism (an unreasonable expectation).

And my expectation is that senior advisors' kids are at school (do you have any evidence otherwise, or is it just a cynical speculation) and their parents are not at bridge club, as per government advice.

The actions you have taken are potentially appropriate to your specific circumstances in Australia. You are clearly in a very different financial situation to the many on here and elsewhere. Perhaps spare a thought for those that cannot afford to simply lock down and spend their time buying gold and following the stock market. Most have to continue to provide a living for their family. Spreading hysteria and conspiracy theories, and criticising Government who are trying to manage this crisis for all, not just the financially secure, does not help anybody!!! No matter what you choose to tell yourself
