Anybody fancy a Guy Martin Lancaster (Just Jane)?

Forgive me for saying this, but isn't it just a flat model of a Lancaster with celebrity endorsement?

This is the great bit
This comes with some surface scratches from the laser cutters and there is nothing we can do about that. We recommend the components are surface polished with Scotch-brite which will remove the scratches and give a much better finish as well.
So not only do you have to put it together but you have to overcome their manufacturing flaws?

File under 'Celebrity Tat'...next! ;)

I would have to agree Mart….Add the fact I have never warmed to this chap and it’s double celebrity tat. Sure you could get better if you looked elsewhere.

I've known and chatted to many a bike racer and apart from what they do on a bike many of them are normal down to earth people and will happily chat and have an intelligent conversation. Guy is a bit 'special' though, hence why he's on TV. I've got nothing against the man, but I've rather buy a Carl Fogarty endorsed Dainese back protector (and have) than a Guy Martin ally Lancaster.

At least Foggy has won something (4 times!)

It looks nice, the bracket is hefty. It’s for charidee so I get the polishing it yourself and it being a bit more expensive than the materials. You would have to want one though, as it won’t hide away on a shelf!

Agreed M.C. racing seems to attract a lot of down to earth riders/people, lots of BSB teams based round here and Cadwell park is the corner too.. @martin if you are coming to watch bike racing or a track day, be good to meet up for a pint or two

My immediate neighbour is multiple world champion Emma Bristow (Trials rider), super down to earth and friendly.

Not been to Cadwell for years!!! Used to live in Lincolnshire too (RAF Waddo).

The BSB weekend is Sat 27 Aug - Mon 29 Aug and I'm not working....might even have the ZXR running by then...(there goes a squadron of pigs in Diamond 9 formation!)

I get a lump in my throat every time I see and hear a Lancaster, Hurricane or Spitfire overhead.
I feel that way, partly because of the losses they took. 60% of all the aircrew who served were killed, injured
or taken prisoner.
To put that in a modern context. As part of NATO's Cold War strategy, the Para Regiment
were to be dropped in front of advancing Soviet Armour to slow them down. To allow reinforcements to arrive
from the UK and to give our own armoured assets time to deploy.
They used to joke that their life expectancy was about eight hours, in such circumstances.
Its widely accepted that a fighting unit becomes combat ineffective at around 50% losses.
Few if any Para Reg expected to survive a Warsaw Pact advance into Germany, never mind a war in Europe.
I believe its shameful, how Bomber Command were treated after the war. Absolutely shameful.
All of that said. My opinion is that a £10 donation per plane sold, would be problematic for me.
Given that the planes are made from scrap metal. According to the story above in Lincolnshire Live.
