So currently have my Maserati Coupe 4200 up for sale on Pistonheads
He offered me £8000 without seeing it then................
This is a couple of emails that I have had since I declined his offer....................

Phil

I am afraid you have called this one wrong. I can understand why you thought it, as we all know there are fraudulent person's out there. I guess I may have come to the same conclusion. Lorenzo is actually genuine, I have dealt with him numerous times. I am a car dealer based in Hillingdon, Middlesex. I am not a Maserati specialist, rather a Land Rover specialist. But I love Maserati's, so I sell a few a year. The last one I sold to Lorenzo was only last week, a 4200 coupe on a 2007 (s3 eau). As usual, I have been fully paid, and he is arranging transport to Italy, once he has located and purchased a second one. Hence I think he was trying to buy yours. I am a ebayer seller since 2004 (thelongergame), and have great feedback, you are welcome to view and see my other cars for sale. On each of my ebay classified, my name, address, contact number and email is visible.

You are welcome to call me if you wish. I have one request though, once you are satisfied that in fact Lorenzo was after all genuine, can you remove his details and hopefully the post history (hopefully admin can help). Lorenzo is a keen buyer of Uk Maserati's, and this posting history on here will do him harm, as we all go on forums like this to check out potential buyers and information.

Interesting second post....

Wanderer, many thanks. I have been a member here since 2014. I have never posted before, to be honest I use this site for research on any issues with my Maserati's. Phil mistake is easy done, perhaps if Lorenzo had given Phil my details and contact number, I could have vouched and spoken to him direct first. But no harm done, it seems to be a misunderstanding.

Interesting second post....

I was thinking exactly that. Trivial for the mods to trace the IP.

However, even if JSR is genuine, I think leaving the entire thread is more sensible than removing it. <shrug>

It's very very odd for someone to go to so much trouble to get a low end 4200. There must be hundreds for sale in fare more convenient places.

Well, I am a cynical barsteward as are most on here - I think I've swung the other way now and all seems genuine, hope it can be resolved or sorted to both party's satisfaction...

Good luck....

I would be happy to facilitate the sale at my property if the buyer and seller agree - for a commission of course haha.

Just before I go, perhaps some advice from me to others who have the same situation in the future.

I have sold a few Maserati's to different destinations in the past few years. I sold a Spyder to Australia last year, a Gransport 4200 to a german gentleman in March this year and Lorenzo's 4200 coupe with final destination of Italy now. There is always a need to be vigilant and question enquirers from abroad. For me it is simple really, I do not offer any of the cars documentation (except service history) first. Only once I have received the funds in full, will I show the V5 etc. This has a protection of car cloning, but if the buyer is serious, and funds arrive, then you have more or less found out it is genuine. I than wait at least 7 days before a car can be collected. That is more than enough time to confirm with the bank the transfer came from a genuine source, is check able and above board.

Checking someone new is hard, unless they are vouched for. So all sellers have is google and forums, but always give them the benefit of the doubt first. They cannot do anything with your bank details, except pay you, so there is minimum risk in my opinion at that stage. The rest you can check with the bank before releasing, and giving yourself a few days grace after payment. In Lorenzo's case, he paid and will not be collecting for a week or two anyway.

Hopefully this helps some one else in the future.

Anyway, that is it for me, back to lurking and the occasional great info search here for when I have issues on my next Maserati in the future. All the very best to all members here and have a good weekend.

Phil if you want to talk, and I am not sure people can put up phone numbers on here, (but if not allowed, sorry admin, just remove number after), you are welcome to call me on my mobile 077762 01234.

It'd be great if this long-running discussion can be resolved and Phil can sell his car to Lorenzo. If Phil wants to sell, Lorenzo wants to buy and Mr Heathrow can broker the deal then everyone will be happy. Better still, we might all be able to turn down our scamdar from 11 to maybe 8. ;-)

And then a slap-up meal at Mrs. Miggins Pie Shop for all forum members!

Hurrah!

PS. I am still very happy to offer my PayPal account as an excellent place for Lorenzo to deposit his money. For a fee of just 5% I will be perfectly happy to transfer the money to Phil. Phil, just let me know, fella. I'm here to help. At your service.

Interesting turn of events! Sell to Heathrow, who says they have a guaranteed buyer in Lorenzo and an established relationship. Easy....!

As long as it's not pie and eel - has anyone ever eaten eel? Sounds revolting.....

Smoked, jellied and in sushi.

Smoked: Glorious
Jellied: Well did it because it's so iconic. I won't be doing it again in any current lifetime.
Sushi: Fantastic.
