Arsed that up a bit didn't he? His comments on the other cars are also mostly wide of the mark!

There is one on Auto Trader for £8950. Still, hardly representative of the market...

I think he's referring to a 3200. I'd like to at least hope so! And that has a chain as well so he got that wrong plus 5k? I bought one for 5k a few years ago so it is possible but it had a knocking engine.

Paid 5K for my project one in 2014.
Saw most of NZ with it and sold it for good money when I left.
Would love another but they are worth some money here in France.

So, on balance he is right, you can buy a Coupe for £5k. It’s just that it will be ******.

Nope spent £1400 on parts for mine and a few good hours doing the repair.
I know we can't all do that so that was up my street.
Many things I don't do at home and pay the appropriate people for their skills.

I didn’t mean it wasn’t fixable, but it was definitely not in working condition at that price.

That you sorted it is to your eternal credit :)

Well, it does not even have the right photo for an Audi A6, the author clearly has no idea about cars in general, waste of space. Another reason not to subscribe to autocars

Yes I think he has a Maserati 4300 in his mind.

That might not be his fault, to be fair...

If anyone does read Audicar ...sorry Autocar; then you will know of this chap.
I do read the dreaded awful rag on occasions (in spite of their pro German car bias)and he knows a lot about cars one buys for less than £1K.
Give him something truly great and he's 'at sea'. He seems to buy and sell 'sheds' and I have no doubt knows a lot about them.
Take everything with a pinch of salt.
Autocar do have a couple of decent journos - Steve Cropley and Matt Prior know their stuff and are largely unbiased (though MP has a leaning towards Porsche at the expense of all else), but both know the motor car inside out. The problem is with the weekly motor mags, they are staffed by young guns who only know and like soul-less cars, the more like autonomous cars the better for them. If the cars have bags of electronics and 'INFOTAIMNENT -overload', they they are great!
Personally my cars are best served without anything with excess buttons, screens or other devices which remove one from the real job of DRIVING.

In fairness, I may have used the words ‘cambelt’ when I should have used the word ‘camchain’ in the new issue on a Golf GTI MkVI... Mistakes do happen.
