We have a shared sentiment Lewis , and my heart goes out to you and your family for all they did was support and provide , i too have had very close contact with a drug addict that died , In fact it was me that killed him , havent told many on here , one or two at most ,

I went through nearly a whole year of helll , and i mean ****, every single morning not knowing whether that letter or policeman was going to turn up on the doorstep , you see i was quite innocently driving not far from my house in Worthing one saturday evening late , on my way over to a Casino in Brighton , less than 1000 yds into my journey on a dark unlit dual carriageway divided by tall conifers i had what turned out to be an unreal experience, hiding in the cover of the trees on the central reservation was a 33 year old apparently very well known crack addict/alcoholic, at 9'clock that evening he had visited the police station which was exactly adjacent to where the accident took place, he had asked the officers on duty to be locked up , yeah you read it right the first time locked up , he was obviously as high as a kite , they refused for what ever reasons and ushered him outside the police station ,

His reaction albeit not a normal one , was to go to the nearest off licence some 500 yards away and purchased 2 6packs of Carlberg special brew , for over an hour he sat on the verge on the south side of the carriage way untill he had sunk the lot , calmy got to his feet ,walked over to the central reservation, it was late so not that many cars about in sleepy Worthing, and hid untill some poor untimely bugger came along in a brand new RX8 purchased for his girlfriend shortly due to return from china (yep me )

You can guess the rest, i had less than 15ft to react at a speed of 49 mph it was all too sudden he flipped over the top of the car smashing the screen as he went only to get run over by the car following me . Obviously the police didn't have far to come , they did the honours and checks on me, then impounded the car for forensic testing and sent me on my way

Needless to say i heard nothing from anyone for 5 months , made a statement then another 5 months for the inquest , i was exhonorated 6 days before xmas 2005 ,thats 10 months never knowing whether i was going to be found partly reponsable , That was **** in itself , but worst is the memory of the guy standing in the centre of the outside lane with his arms raised hands cupped beconning me to bring it on , this was all confirmed by a fellow addict that had been with him the entire evening and had made a statement hours after the event , i was left dangling for 10 months when i could have been put at rest , so yeah im a tad bitter , taken me years to understand that i was the victim not him

Tell me about it , sorted out my perspective on life , my two boys had a hard time understanding why their dad was so distant and preoccupied for a long time
