And so a certain poster off this board closed the from door behind him and headed for the local filling station to get a Snday Times and milk. The time was 12.07, it takes one minute to get to the end of our development and 4 mins down to the said filling station.

Theres a small incline on our road, just on the crest of same, I thought I'd phone my mate.........it was 12.10 pm................

...............it had been a very windy morning..................gusting at times........................as I raised the phone to my ear, there was a sharp report type noise, like a rifle shot, then a second........................

.........................my eyes looked more skyward at the movement that was occuring.................100 yds down the road a large ivy clad sycamore tree had born the brunt of the last gust...and had decided to part company with the rest of the tree................................in slow motion about one third of the tree started to fall......................................................

................................S*H*I*T......................that nice red Alfa Romeo 159 that had just pasted me..........was getting a bit close to where the tree was about to fall.....................double S*H*I*T........has he seen it.......brake lights lit up...............no drama........fortunately he was going slowly........................the main trunk was now on the road, the smaller large branches were close behind as thy fell to earth making a mighty whooosh as the came to rest partly covering the the front of the car.................I broke into a run.........nay.....it was a canter......luckily downhill.....................the drivers door slowly opened............." Are you ok I hollered..........anyone else in the car????!!!


Luckily.......all was well....................just some bodywork damage..........................and shock....................


I didn't get to buy my S Times this am.........................I trust you understand why..........

These were taken 20 mins later by neighbour for me......believe it or not, one of our local press photographers was coming up the other side of the road.......he got the pics!

When you reflect on it Conaero.........forgot something in the house, met someone on the way.........etc......it coulda just been me and the tree!!
