OK I had to take a day off work due to 2 domestic radiators bursting last week [made a real mess of the white carpets I must add!]...

Called British Gas to tell them the problem and claim on the cover they sold...No problem Sir, you are covered. We will send out a guy to fix.

Great here is the size of the radiators.

Guy turns up today, takes a look and says...will have to order these, see you in two week...WTF 10 mins and a whole day wasted...don't they trust you to know when there is a hole in a rad?...water squirting out kind of gives it away!

So call to the service lady who says the radiators will b delivered one day, and I have to be there to sign for them...Another day lost. Can't you put them in the rear garden. No Gypsies will steel them...I kid you not!!! Thats what she said...What does she know that I dont about where I live...there is no caravan next to my house waiting for these gold plated rads!!! Oh and the fitter will come another day to fit. So 3 days of work, £1000 lost in income for a job of un-doing 2 bolts!

Well now I am free for the day and not wanting to sit about doing nothing but forum stuff I decide to come to Costa Coffee round the corner...Or should I say Costa Kinda F'rginn Coffee...place if full of the spawn of Satan...and the little sods keep comming up to look at what I am doing because their mums are too busy chatting about home and away and Chery Coles latest shoes to give a Fu+k.

God I wish I was back in prison...at least its quiet.

Rant over

Do the rads youreslf & bill them for £2k = that will be cheaper than their numpties doing it...

If a jobs worth doing it's worth doing properly; so you may as well do it yourself!

Sorry to hear of your woes Peter.

If your insurance policy covers consequential costs, bill the boogers! Just write an invoice to yourself for the time you've been away from your normal play of employment.

It happens all too often.

Is there something in the way these guys get paid? I.e. they get paid for coming to you, so if they can come out again "terribly sorry about this sir, I've not brought the right parts with me", they get paid twice?

would you like me to issue the invoice? ........provided I do not find myself opposite you at your workplace?

Its British Gas own home care and their own staff who do the repairs...Managed to get a Friday PM slot for the repair next month, still have to take the afternoon off...will take my luck with the Gypsies.
