My mate's dad had an Alfasud - it was quite quick from memory, the rust holes got visibly bigger every day, then it just fell to bits! learnt to drive in a 120Y

Austin Allegro - first car in UK to be sold with a 5 speed gearbox

PS love 'ya location' cant be true - my wife dont wear any!

Doesn't really matter that the allegro was the first car with a 5 speed gearbox, know one remembers the allegro for that.

The location is not true, if it was, i would probably have been beaten up a few times by now.

Austin Allegro - horrid with a square steering wheel! My dads one caught light 3 days after he got it (company car I hasten to add)
Austin Maxi - Mum's car of my youth, hated it so I crashed it a week after passing my test - mum was not pleased!

LOTUS - Lots of Trouble - Usually Serious
FORD - Fix Or Repair Daily

I just p1ssed myslef laughing at your dads allegro, glad he was o.k, would loved to have seen it go up in flames and his boss's reaction to why he needed a new company car 3 days later. :D

You crashed your mums austin maxi, your parents liked BL cars then, were they from birmingham?

I dont like the lotus and ford rhymes you have posted, heard them before many times but for did make some good cars, escort cossie, sierra cossie and rs500, escort mk1 and mk2, the harrier was my fave escort. The new focus rs is an awesome thing.

Lotus, they have made some truly great cars, o.k they were not always the most reliable but in the last 13 years since the elise came out, they have been a huge success, would love a lotus at some point.

Mine was RHD, same colour Platinum silver...same laurel on the front, same wheels...
did not come with the dolly bird though, so I had some go faster stripes installed instead :D

I had a TR7 until a couple of years ago. It had a breathed-on 4 litre V8 under the bonnet, loads of other mods like a disc-braked rear axle and was geared for acceleration. Absolutely mental car...getting out of it after a drive resulted in a huge grin and massive headache!
