Given their current lineup, and what's in the pipeline, I tend to agree. It will be a shame, but with increasing uniformity of designs, I think probably inevitable.

We shall see, though. It's been said before.

I'll believe it when I see it abut I am not convinced that AR will not be gone in five years from the UK.

personally i find that unlikely, the Mito and Giulietta have been a huge success for them in the UK and with the Giulia expected in 2014 they will have a Big saloon (estate), small car and hatchback ( and a baby sportscar for the lucky few)

I heard from an inside source that all 4C/Gransports/Abarth will be build on the Maserati production line and tooling has already started.

I've also read that the 4C will be built at Modena by Maserati.Other new models Maserati have planned will be built in the ex Bertone factory in Turin. An Alfa built by Maserati sounds great on paper, lets hope the reliability is up to recent standards, and they don't cut corners due to its lower price point.

ive heard rumors that they were based on the same platform but nothing to back it up, so just putting down as hearsay as they were to be built in the same factory.

Lets hope so but it will come down in part to price and of course the quality of the parts they commission.

One thing is for sure, it will have faults and I am a little concerned that it will be all show and no go, a bit like the 8C....stunning to look at, not so good to drive.

All new cars have there little faults, and yes the 4C will be using new tect but its all been tried and tested. unlike when the 8C came out.
as far as all show no go... if the proto type is anything to go by then it'll be all go and cant see it to fecking well show it!

Maserati are indeed building the 4C, as they did the 8C. Makes me think that the price will be at the high end of expectations.

As for the new Gransport it's a tough call and depends on how Maserati replace the GranTurismo. I read a report recently that said that the new GranTurismo will be a 2+2. If so then could the new Gransport be based on this rather than the 4C; ie front engined rather than mid?

Most of what was in the 8C was well proven and not new.

Indeed Bob, we all know underneath is was a 4200 Spyder chassis with the 4.7.

It looked good enough to take your mind off the average handling.

the gearbox was new and that was the major fault, or the main problem with breakdowns.
granted the steering was a mess and the suspension setup!
