Just thought I'd update and finish off this thread for future reference.

So my total came to £950 for a "Delphi" non-Maserati A/C compressor unit, plus £50 for a re-gas and £435 for the labour involved. So expensive, but as Bigbob above states, it was good to take it into a specialist and get an overview of the exact status of the car overall and a list of the things that will need looking at over the coming year.

Interestingly, they are charging £275 for a new key from the factory for anyone that is interested and you need your V5 and photo ID to apply to get it.

They also upgraded and replaced my cooling fan resistor for a total of £111.55 inc VAT, which was a must-do mod considering it controls when the radiator fans come on and the older units tend to be faulty.

Overall, Joe Macari were very good despite it taking a month to source the compressor (Maserati have none at their factory) so if yours goes pop, expect to wait a while for the part. The good news is, its as cold as a meat fridge in my car now so hot days are no longer an issue.

Thanks again for the comments/advice on this thread, it was all helpful.

Cheerio,

James

Did that £111 for the resistor include labour?

They're only £20. I doubt it's that the early ones being 'faulty', but that they just corrode.
