Hi All . Looking for a set of SS wheel bolts for my 4200. I know sprogs use to supply them but despite messaging him I have been unable to make contact. Any suggestions please?

As far as I can see Hill's just do chrome bolts? I'm also looking for some stainless ones. if anyone actually locates any please feel free to post here!

I might just get some cheap zinc plated bolts - I suspect they might last longer than the chrome ones.

I've been doing some research on this topic on and off. The specs for the 4200\3200 AC wheel bolts are:

31mm Thread\shank length
1.5 thread Pitch
22mm bolt head - which doesn't really matter TBH as long as the above dimensions are correct.

These bolts from a 911\boxster look like they almost match:

They are 3mm shorter, and the shoulder of the bolt possibly looks a different profile.

Anyone have a Boxster\911 they can grab a wheel bolt from and try on the 4200?

I have a feeling that some Volvo bolts are compatible, but I cant remember which, it is not just the length and thread pitch, but also the angle of the shoulder that needs to be correct.

awesome -thanks Phil. Do the shoulder bits of the Porsche bolt separate away from the main bolt?

It looks like in the pictures they might do. If so, I'm thinking a local engineering shop could machine the correct shoulder angle into each. Potentially Bob's your uncle.

The collar on the Porsche bolt spins but doesn't come off but could be taken off quite easily.

Might be worth contacting these people as they seem to have a lot of bolt options available.

I also thought they were the same bolts used on the alfa 156 or 166 although that may have been just an emergency in Le mans measure.

Alfa 159 bolts are :

Bolts are M14 x 1.5 pitch, 60 degree taper with 17 or 19mm head, 30mm

Its possibly those that were used on the le mans trip.

I'm going to order a set of these and see if they are suitable;

Specs match, aside from having a 1 - 1.5 mm longer shank. I've taken a quick look at the tolerances and believe the extra length should be ok to not cause fouling. we'll see.

They have an internal hex type head, which is potentially kinder to the finish of the alloy itself when loosening\tightening up the bolt. They are zinc plated steel as opposed to Stainless\titanium, but should be more durable than our OEM chrome, at least in part because of the internal hex head, and MUCH cheaper.

I found the ones i had, anybody want them? I won't sell them as they're safety critical and selling them assumes some sort of responsibility on my behalf. So whoever wants them can have them. What you do with them is up to you.

yes please - i'd like to test these against the internal hex bolts posted above. If I don't use them I'll pass on to another forum member. Will DM address details.

Thank you!

Did you use them or are they available
FYI I purchased new bolts from Wheelpartsdirect.com .They are good quaility and cheap the only downside is the heads are 17mm not 22mm but they fit perfectly and are a great company to deal with.

Which nuts did you buy as it only suggests nut covers for the 4200
Look under bolts. I fitted spacers as well so had to have the longer 50mm bolts which only come with a 17mm head. If you are not putting spacers on then you could use the 35mm length ones which come with a tapered 19mm head. See link https://wheelpartsdirect.com/products/bolts/77 . I've spoken to WPD and they don't see any problem fitting them and if you do there after sales service is excellent.
