Hi all
Was going to order some FDB451 for the rears of the 4200, but they seem hard / impossible to come by.

Anyone know of a supplier (AP, Brakeparts and Opie all out), or sensibly priced alternative?

Cheers

Catman, are you looking for just brake pads buddy? Here check out this part number for EBC DP3612C....there are a few vehicles that cross reference the same brake pads for our cars front and rear.....You can get EBC red stuff pads all the way around your car for just above $200 USD..do a UK ebay search I think you will be pleasantly surprised....

Here check this link out, should help you a lot....http://www.maseratilife.com/forums/coupe-spyder-gs/7492-what-other-cars-share.html

hope this helps

Cheers Craig. Indeed I can get EBC pads, Red or Yellow for 'OK' prices. The Ferodos I bought for the front back in August were slightly more than a third of the EBC price, however. I don't like spending more than I *have* to. Although EBC may be 'better', I really doubt I'd notice the difference.
However, needs must and all that. Looks like it's going to be EBC Yellow, Brembo discs, dampers and petrol filler neck next week. Yay for bonuses :)

I bought a set of Greengrippers when changing discs 3 years ago...all round they were £70 odd suit everyday use, but harder drivers and track guys would want an upgraded pad

Thanks, Frank

Can't find anything on line, other than a thread on here that you started. Any links?

I'm doing the rear discs and pads on mine tomorrow and I've opted for EBC yellows. Quite pricey but they work really well.

Catman what part number are you using for the F's in the front? I found some of the rears in the U.S. for $40.....also are these the asbestos pads that fill your rims with the black brake dust so that you have to clean them about every day?

Benny,
I thought you would have been better going for the EBC Reds, ceramic content and stop well even at your speeds..!!

I went through that thought process when I was looking for pads for my 335D. The advantage of yellows for the road is the better response from cold. On track, reds for sure because they are always hot, but after a 100 miles on the motorway in winter I want to slow immediately if the guy in front runs out of talent. Like I said in another thread, they bring my BM down from 140+ without fade or drama so that's all I need really. If I get any fade when I'm out in the Maser with the boys, I'll move up to reds. I'll let you know how I get on.

I think it's FDB998 for the fronts correct? The cheapest I could find those in the U.S. for was $83.95 USD. I think the EBC red stuff pads are only about $20 USD more for me are the prices the same acrossed the pond? I figure if that's the difference in price I would settle for EBC and save myself the frustration of cleaning the black out of the rims all the time.

Heavy black deposits are no good to anyone and it looks a mess, I would prefer to pay that little bit extra and get pads that work but don't get everything messy..!!

FDB998 it was. I paid £47.32 all in so a tad more then half the price of the EBC's, about a $60 difference.

Oh okay, I guess the EBC red stuff is more expensive for ya'll guys across the pond then.....I can get those for the front at $102.83 with free shipping. The FDB998 @$83.95 so only $20 USD....for us here, to be exact I guess only $18.88 more for EBC Reds.

Benny,
Yellow stuff is well capable and I understand your thinking. Yellows will hit I think around 800 degC before falling off the cliff and they don't need to be hot to work, so a good choice..!!
