Well I drove mine through plenty of standing water yesterday, some of it at 'pace' involving a bit of aquaplaning at one point. didn't bat an eyelid...

Regarding the posts above and overheating, I don't see it being a problem, overheating shouldn't be a problem as this is only likely to be occurring without a secondary issue if you are stuck in heavy traffic on a stinking hot day. in this situation the engine will be at idle and drawing very minimal air through the induction, the cooling fans will be able to pull adequate air around the filter IMHO.

I'd agree with that totally. When the car is moving the radiator is getting all the air it needs, when the car is stood still the fams draw enough air in. Unless it's a 3200 and a fan is knackered. (Just saying that so BennyD doesn't have too!)

I want to make sure that I understand this correctly.....So you will need to remove the grill in order to change the filter? I just put a GS front bumper on my car, and I was pretty sure to get the grill out I had to remove the front bumper to do so, that was a GS or 4200. Maybe I'm missing something, but either way I'm all for innovation. Maybe help me understand and I'm definitely wanting on the list......

Hi Craig, it's the other way round, you have to take the grille out to get the bumper off as the main bolts are accessed through the opening. The grille is fixed by four self tappers across the top and four or five metal Bullet clips. Across the bottom. Don't know about the GS though.

I don't think it's the radiator cooling that's at issue, but the air intake to the engine..??

Well it can't be too much of an issue as most cars pull the air from beside the radiator via ducting. I can't see that even on a sill air day there will be any significant temperature gain to the induction when sitting still; when you are moving the improvements will be vast over the stupid location at present!

Having had three Kawasaki Ninjas and rebuilding a fourth, I love a good induction noise. My ZX6RJ2 used to whistle when I was 'on it'.
Freeing up the intake is clearly underrated, everyone goes for exhaust tuning (louder=power) but this is simpler and I'm interested in being in the 20.

Love a bit of Kawasaki Ram Air - ZXR750M2 and a ZX7RR - both very snorty.

My only problem now is they are too costly to mend if you are 'on it' and get it a bit wrong. Just have to go everywhere in 1st gear!

If you are 'on it' and get it a bit wrong you might not be in a position to have it repaired.

Ian - I did once. I agree about not being in a position, hence why I have really slowed down.

It went something like:

pootling at 60mph, brake on a wet white line:
bike skids
bike and rider hit road
bike hits rider
rider slides
rider hits bike
bike hits rider back
rider slides further and headbutts bridge
bike hits kerb and attempts to stand up
bike hits bridge
rider stand ups and has already performed the estimate of £2,500 of damage
rider takes off helmet and lights a cigarette (the fuel tank was intact)
rider thanks the chap upstairs

All happened in slow motion! Never again

You were lucky to walk away from that. I had an R1 which low sided me at 139. I know I was doing that because I was looking at the speedo when the front locked up and tucked under. I hit the road and slid for about a 100 yards without hitting anything or being hit. All I got was a few bruises and a little finger broken in 5 places. It took me two weeks to 'get back on the horse' and break 140. At the time it helped strengthen my impression of being immortal but that has changed somewhat in recent years. I've still got a bike (Aprilia RSV1000 Factory) but it might be going next spring as I haven't ridden it at all this year and, tbh, I haven't really missed not riding it.

This is a great idea, I will be very interested in getting one of these kits once they are produced. One more to add to the 20! :)

Cool, must be nearly there and it isn't competed yet :D

That said I drover through deep water today on the A228 in mine , albeit slowly but it would have been over the bottom of the bumper and at least I had the confidence the air filter is presently tucked up under the headlight so no issues! No way I would have chanced it a month ago with the airbox in place....

I have already mentioned to you that I'll have one (please) when you have finished developing it but I'll mention it again so I don't miss out!

Please add me to the list. After my service, I was told my airbox and lid are cracked so this looks like a good option.

Many thanks,
