3200GT rear lower control arms issue

I'll bet that the expense is related to the fact they fit the only OE arms available, I wonder if the price hike happened as soon as the 3200 arms became obsolete?

Yes same problem, don't get how I missed to be honest. Ahh well.
I certainly won't be grinding them down to fit.

I bought the Pattern ones and Fork from Eurospares and I had also stated they wouldn't fit.
I end up asking my mechanic to grind them in the machine shop and then fit on my 3200.
I had personally sent emails to service support and sales manager of Eurospares and they
told me is 100% fit but obviously NOT!

Interesting, looking at the superformance website they have pictures and it's not the Gransport that's different it's later 4200's and Gransports. The rear bracket has the bolt offset from the centre. Not sure how that works with the same wishbones unless the rear subframe is different on later models with the holes in a different place.

So going by the site detail the top one should be correct for the 3200? Yes? But I would need to buy the more expensive one to fit the pattern bone?

I don't think we know for sure. I am not aware of anybody on here reporting that they have successfully fitted one of the pattern arms, or one of the beefed up OEM arms, on either a 4200 or a Gransport. I think it remains to be seen. Personally I'd speak to Eurospares before ordering and get them to supply an arm and forks, but test they fit together before despatching them. It will be interesting to see how things progress in this area.

I thought the issue with the pattern bones was they were too bulky to fit in the older brackets such as the 3200s?

I thought the issue is that some of the brackets had been modified / strengthened, but I can't be arsed to go back through all the threads

I have been reading this forum for a while and enjoyed the high level of competence and numerous interesting threads. I have something to contribute to the pattern wishbone discussion. My wife has a 3200GT as a daily driver with almost 130k kms. For the MoT a rear tie rod and a front ball joint needed replacement. I thought that with the age of the car new ball joints, bushings and tie rods would benefit the road holding and give an as-new experience. The January discount on Eurospare pattern wishbones was therefore most welcome.

As we know, the pattern 4200 Coupé rear wishbones do no fit in the original 3200 forks.

Original

4200 Coupé is meatier

All 4 3200 forks are symmetrical. The 4200 Coupé has a symmetrical fork at the front and an asymmetrical one at the rear side of the wishbone. When I ordered the patter wishbones from Eurospares they confirmed that they would fit the 3200 without a problem. When this turned out not to be the case (no surprise to this forum I suppose) they said the 4200 forks should be used. So my mechanic ordered these. The asymmetrical rear ones (Part# 196522) do not fit because the mounting point on the subframe of the 4200 has shifted compared to the 3200. The solution was simple. We used 4 front forks (part# 196521).

Original setup with 3200 fork and wishbone

New setup with 4200 Coupé fork and wishbone

The only difference is that the wishbone is mounted some 0.5 cm higher compared to original. However, the factory-prescribed geometry can still be obtained and the car drives perfectly, at all speeds.

Best to buy parts from Eurospares when not needing any advice.

I hope this is helpful.

Great work.
Suspect I will soon be working on rear wishbones. Once the front one is back on the car.
